I have no problem with doing everything we can to defend the borders (and we aren't doing anywhere near enough).

I just don't like tying that effort into bringing ANY troops back from Iraq. They are doing an extremely vital job there. Bringing some back just weakens the effort there.

Besides until things change here, they wouldn't do any good. There are some legal issues that need to be handled re using troops within the US. And we would have to get enough popular support to overcome the Liberals screaming objections and attempts to block them being used.

At any rate, there are lots of people still in the military, who are not in Iraq, that could be used if we could overcome the other problems.

"Fighting over there" is not a vague concept. The best defense is a good offense. There is NO way to defend against all possible attacks. We MUST keep the enemy rocked back on their heels by hitting them constantly everywhere we can. If we ONLY try to defend here, we lose.

I don't know if that is true, after all they're getting the pleasure of sitting around in 135 degree heat and wait for Sadr put his hands up (which will never happen.)

Which are what exactly? I'm confused, hasn't the aspect of the US Constitution been reference enough on this thread?

Ah yes, the big bad liberals. J&K has helped me realize something on this topic, that is kind of a boogie man GOP pols throw around to justify their innaction. They control the Executive, House, Senate, and CA Gov. If they wanted something, the Dems would have to go pound some sand. After all, the aforemention Iraq was done against the wishes of the liberals, and they were REALLY mad about that. I know many many liberals who are as hot and bothered about illegal immigration as ANYONE on FR.

Yes its vague, and you prove it by following it up with the old football saying, was it a good offense for Farida Goolam Mohamed Ahmed? She is an Al Quada terrorist who's gone over our border at least once caught in Texas, exactly what in Iraq did the troops there prevent? For the GOP's sake, we better be on our knees every night praying to God there isn't a terrorist attack here caused by people who jumped the Mexican border. Bush better be too.

There is NO way to defend against all possible attacks. We MUST keep the enemy rocked back on their heels by hitting them constantly everywhere we can.

You are fighting the last war. This is not the Soviet military rolling over the plains of Germany. These guys are seperated, franchised. They are about as dependent on the terrorist in Iraq as I am on the illegal at Home Depot collecting welfare. To say we can't defend everything is a terrible excuse. We should be doing absolutely everything. That should be the top priority. When a dirty bomb goes off in LA everyone will say "we should have done more"

If we ONLY try to defend there, we lose.
