My mom and several family members live in Port Charlotte/Punta Gorda. I heard that many homes were flatted in Punta Gorda and that windows were blown out from many homes in Port Charlotte. If anyone has info on what the damage looks like there please post. Heard on tv that they are predicting power to be out for at least a week, so contacting my family will be difficult.

Thanks

Nightline just reported Emergency services simply can't even get into many areas in Port Charlotte/Punta Gorda. Wish I had better news for you.

The Charlotte Co. Airport sustained major damage. There were evacuees at the airport, and the building failed. Major damage to boats. Expect little more news until daylight.

Local Punta Gorda report: US 41 business with roof failure, traffic lights down. I see palm trees are still standing. Widespread roof damage.
