Ah yes, I remember that LONG night well too. Of course I was the only one in my family awake all night listening to the transformers blowing and trees falling all night long. I don't EVER want to go through anything like that again.

We were lucky, we ended up with a smallish tree on our garage and several down in the back yard but no significant damage. We felt very fortunate after driving through town, the areas that we could even get through, and seeing rows of houses, every single one with trees on them.

We were at Crabtree tonight when the storm came through and they kept announcing on the PA system and the security guards were going to every store telling customers if they were parked on the lower parking deck level that they needed to go move their cars immediately because the parking deck was flooding. Can't imagine Crabtree Creek handling much more water tomorrow.

Ugh - memories! I am with you - I will not go through that again if I have any way to avoid it!

Yes, creeks and ponds are at the overflow mark right now. At Fran - Crabtree overflowed until Glenwood Avenue itself was a river! Came in the lower level of the mall. Had forgotten that part of the Fran Nightmare!!!

Are you going to evacuate? I am thinking of heading West to the Mtns of NC for the weekend - enough of this nasty stuff!

I was in a solid, brick apartment building near downtown Raleigh during Fran, so I wasn't worried about property damage. I was worried about our very first brand new car that we'd bought 2 days before. Falling trees crushed several cars and came through several apartment windows, but our apartment and our car were fine. I stayed up that night listening to and watching the transformers blow. My husband slept through the whole thing. But we got our power back on Saturday evening (Fran came through Thursday night/Friday morning), a lot sooner than a lot of the rest of Raleigh.
