What's the URL to the weather site where you got that graphic from? TIA :-)
I'm having a sinking feeling that we have another Andrew on our hands in terms of devastation. 5,000 people live on Sanibel Island, which looks like it might not even exist by midnight.
It might be of interest that in August, 1951, a category four hurricane called Charlie, which also developed early in the hurricane season, killed more than 100 people in Jamaica.
Great pics from the Ft. Myers webcam, explosions heard..possibly transformers blowing out
I'm in Longwood Fl, immediately north of Florida.
A prophetic friend of mine about two months ago said that God was going to send a great rain on Disney World here because of their 'gay days'.
WBBH/WSVN:
3:00 - Sanibel
3:02 - Captiva
Actually she's supposed to be on Marco Island .... I hope she's not. That being said 60MPH is not to bad. So I'm not too worried ... yet. I've been thru at least ten big storms including Celia that tore up Corpus Cristi in 1970.
Check the radar loop in reply #3 - I think it made a slight turn to the north - may past just to the west of Sanibel Island. Tampa Bay might not be entirely out of the woods yet.
When the salt water hits the transformers it's frightening.
I just heard the same thing from the Ft. Myers television station.
Agreed. But there's more than just Willie- I'm beginning to think that the FR powers that be keep certain people like that around just to make it interesting. Lurkers can learn a lot by following the logic in a good debate.
But is doesn't make me like them any better. Big government control freaks are slimy bottom feeders.
Its the channel 7 live link on TV earlier on this thread, they are doing a great job so far.
That thing is changing hourly. It may regenerate off Georgia, who knows.
LOL, I see you haven't lost your sense of humor.
I was on guam in 86-89. I missed the only one to hit the island when I was traveling. Came back to a real mess.
He is . . . Cantore!
LOL!
WBBH/WSVN: "For those of you on Captiva and Sanibel, time's up. Time to turn off the TV set and get into your safe room."
That's what I was wondering...it'll be interesting to see whether it redevelops on the Atlantic before landfall in the Carolinas.
