After several Hurricanes passed, we'd still see entire boats, and lots of pieces, miles inland. I pray for those souls that did not evacuate Sannibel Island.

We get 50 mph gusts here quite a bit in the Fall and Winter. I can't imagine sustained winds like that.

The better hope they are not on the right hand side of the eye wall, if they are they will be lucky to live.

Looks like that is exactly where they'll be- based on the live Radar feed.

Some "good" news. The strongest winds are tightly wrapped in the center of the storm. It is 20 miles offshore, but the wind in Captiva is only 20 sustained.

Latest sat photo has the storm elongating slightly to the north. Loop radar also makes it seem that the storm has made a very slight jog to the left and at least for the moment is tracking almost due north.

60 MPH wind gusts at Ft. Myers Beach; the streaming television is going to carry the signal from the camera there as long as possible. They've got a reporter and cameraman 5 stories up on that beach.

Scary, isn't it. Port Royal, (Naples), was under water in the 1960's.

She probably can't - not only do cell sites get slammed during emergencies by regular customers, but local officials and police/fire get priority access. The cell site will bump a call off if there are no free cells available and someone with a higher status needs to get through. I wouldn't worry.

The thing is, Pet, that at 1 when I looked at that, it had the storm skirting the coast of GA, going in back in and up I-95; now look.

It's not going to lose that much crosing Florida; call everybody you know.
