Okay, please don't flame me. I'm honestly interested in what freepers think about this.
Ever since Rush came back from rehab and started talking about "living a lie" and "not being able to make other people happy" and all that, I've had the uneasy feeling that Rush had "discovered" something more about himself than he was letting on.
Today, listening to Rush as he talked about his empathy for McGreevy, it seemed inevitable to wonder if Rush's empathy (and, please, if you did not hear Rush's comments, realize it's difficult to assess the tone and emotion with which he delivered them) wasn't tied back to his own "living a lie" struggles.
Yes, it would be easy to think that the "lie" was his drug addiction, but . . . I'm posting this because it really seemed as though Rush might be warming up to his own bombshell (whatever that might be).
His commentary was so passionate, in a personal, not political way, that I even wondered if he was (unconsciously) seeing if he could start a thread like this, in order to see what the speculation might be and what the reaction to that speculation might be.
Who heard Rush's opening commentary on McGreevy and what was your reaction/thoughts? Thanks. I'd be interested to know.
While, I agree, that Rush was indulging in a little bit of psycho-babble during the first hour..........It could also be interpreted as trying to finesse this situation by throwing 'back-handed sympathy' towards McGroovy, NOT that Rush is gay.
There's actually a couple of topics Rush stays away from and DOESN'T go for the jugular on: Gays & Illegals (among others).
He paid for sex with this man with my money! That makes this person a Prostitute, yes?
And he put my F'ing safety and my families safety, and all families in NJ at risk with this BOZO.
How many others are on McGreedy's staff that are there in a "pay for sex" situation?
How many of the citizens of NJ could have lost their lives?
How much money am I and the taxpayers of NJ going to have to pay to clear this up?
Rumor in NJ are that he lived with them for a while.
Rush just got back from rehab. I'm sure he can relate to the pain that whole thing caused his family with the pain the gay gov's family is experiencing.
There's nothing like a good sex scandal to camouflage other scandals. That's the #1 lesson of the Clinton years.
I have been with FR since 1998. I love this website. I said I don't want to be associated with you and your ilk. Fortunately, you are the minority on this site.
Speak for yourself. Thanks.
There's a difference between empathy and absolution.
Are you saying Rush is gay?
ROFLMAO!
Oh please, it was so OBVIOUS he was talking about "living a lie" in terms of his drug addiction.
And you think he "unconsciously" wanted someone at FR to start a thread about it? LOL
Dittos. I heard the monologue and you are 100% correct.
I agree about McGreevy.... He chose to be Gay for the moment. He had a wife he had children. At the present time it is HIP to be GAY, in the lefties world.
God did not make anyone Gay..... They choose it... yes, they choose it.....
Omg, the HORROR!
I am Woofie and I am a boring American
LOL!
Care to answer my question?
First of all, I was not among the people that was inquiring if Rush is gay. Second of all, you posted a hyserical spew whilst throwing up your leg on your high horse. THAT is what I was responding to, and I won't be in the minority on that!
Its been brought up on Rush's show today that some people are calling McGreevey a hero for what he did.
He is hardly a hero. He was cheating on his wife, living a lie, and allowing the coverup for that lie to make very poor decisions (like making the guy he was fooling around with in charge of NJ's Homeland Security? What the heck!).
People are now saying McGreevey is the "Jackie Robinson" of gay politics. That makes absolutely no sense.
Jackie Robinson did not wear white makup, act white, lie to people his whole life telling everyone he was white, earn a spot on a major league ballclub, then, try to cover up his lie when someone who could expose him as a fraud found out by giving him an important job where lives hung in the balance of that person's job performance....and then, inevitably, confess to being black when he was about to be sued or blackmailed (no pun intended).
Jackie was black his whole life, he couldn't hide it, and he earned his way into the majors despite being black and with real prejudice in existence at the time, he excelled at his profession despite tremendous pressure he was under. He did not lie about who he was. He did not conceal who he was. He turned the other cheek. He blocked out the threats, the shouts, and the bigots, and he worked hard and did his job better than anyone else could do it.
Furthermore, Jackie did not choose to be black. He was born that way.
Also, the liberal press who compare McGreevey to Jackie Robinson probably do not realize that Jackie Robinson was a Republican. Even in the late 1960s...during the LBJ administration and the "great society"....because according to Jackie, Republicans preached "self-help." Being a man who worked hard all his life to get what he accomplished, this message resonated with Jackie.
We in Canada have seen virtually the demise of clear non-libellious free speech. At one time America seemed to be going the same way. I hold this to be true. More than anybody, Rush Limbaugh gave the manipulative left salvo after salvo. Once he started to charge, others found courage.
This seems to be a human trait ie: if everyone is cowed, then everyone may follow suit. Rush did more for the First Amendment than anyone. This in my observation of the affairs of the USA for over 45 years.
Well, old chap, you did ask for thoughts on the subject. Bit of a sermon, I will concede. America owes Rush, as does Rush owe America.
My, my --- a voice of discernment and reason! How refreshing.
Rush isn't a relativist - those who are will NEVER figure him out.
