How is he delusional, his plan is working perfectly. All he has to do is hold out till Kerry gets elected, and then...he becomes ruler of all Iraq.

They are not really negotiating from a position of strength right now. I mean he was supposedly wounded yesterday which would, at least to me, make it look like desperation...

Lets get it over with...pull our guys away and lets find out if one of those missles in North Dakota actually works....

To say Sadr should die is to "act like a DU troll?"

Yeach, I've heard it all now.

If I was Osama to die, like I want Sadr to die, I guess that would make me a senior member of ANSWER.

The hard truth is that his support among Shiites is rising by leaps and bounds. Heard of demonstrations in support of him breaking out all over southern Iraq ?

Despite initial tough talk from Allawi, he obviously does not have enough popular support to destroy al-Sadr. And for as long as we overrule him on things like this he never will because he will be seen as an American puppet.

Flatten the place

What would that accomplish?

Uh, sure. It was a bad idea to have policemen in a major city. What could we have been thinking?

Ahh, the ludicrous joys of injecting political considerations into battle.

What a shame we have to kneel before the sensitivities of liberals and the Islamic horde.

Speaking of which, are there absolutely NO real-live, actual men in the Islamic faith? Muslim males are so weak they cannot stand to see a woman's skin or shape in public. They are so pathetic that they have to call for school-yard time-outs in the heat of battle. They are so callously indifferent that they think slaughtering a family member somehow restores honor. They are so bereft of paternal instincts that they hide behind the elementary-school children that they aren't sending to do their fighting for them. They are so craven that none stand up against the thuggery exhibited by their leadership. They cling to a religion of violence because they are not strong enough to believe in a religion of love or service to others. Seriously, do they have any self-respect whatsoever?!

What makes you think we will NOT bow to his demands?

That's what I'm thinking. In fact, I'd give it a 50-50 chance right now that the fat man walks out of this alive.

Sadr's demands are the equivalent to making the US give back all it's gains and stop killing Sadr supporters. In return, Sadr gets time to resupply and recruit and train for the next battle.

Sounds like a good deal... for me to poop on!

Ceasefire Conditions:

When the bad guys are either out of ammunition and captured, or all dead, then we cease fire.

Any other condition is a loser!
The bad guys only make these proposals when they're cornered, and have repeatedly demonstrated they can NOT be trusted, and will continue to violate ALL agreements.

Well, a minute ago you told me I was acting like one.

Like I said, if wanting Sadr dead makes me a member of DU, then wanting Osama dead must make me a senior member of International ANSWER.

I'm beginning to wonder the same thing. Yesterday's photos of Iraqi policemen turncoating was unsettling to me. One thing for sure - if Sadr comes through this latest incident unscathed, I see him taking over Sistani's leadership role by being the most influential Shi'ite cleric. I can't even pretend to know what's on the mind of the current Iraqi leadership, but I have a feeling that they are second guessing now, and Sadr and his minions know it...

Well you know, we wouldn't want to make a martyr out of him, and we wouldn't want to upset certain Iraqi citizens.

Maybe if we play nice, he'll listen to reason and stop his "insurgency."

Sorry this is "off topic", but did you hear that Bill Buckner was almost killed recently?

The pedestrian Buckner was trying to cross a very busy intersection and was almost run over and killed by an 18 wheel semi-tractor trailor truck , which had failed to stop as Buckner was crossing the intersection.

Buckner escaped serious injury however , as the semi-truck
went through his legs.

Yeah the morons who are making the decisions must think he will lose influence if we let him go.

If they had of killed him months ago, he would be nothing but a distant memory.

As it stands now, if we do in fact let him off the hook yet again, we're going to lose this war, because we are refusing to fight it.
