[ Telephone Interview with Major Kazim Muhammad Zayir, in Baghdad, by Anchorwoman Lina Zahr al-Din, in the Doha Studios --Live]
[FBIS Report]
Doha Al-Jazirah Television in Arabic at 0819 GMT on 13 August carries live a three-minute telephone interview with Major Kazim Muhammad Zayir, in Baghdad, by anchorwoman Lina Zahr al-Din, in the Doha studio.
Asked to verify reports that Al-Sadr City's police have detached themselves from the Baghdad Police, he says:" Al-Sadr City's Police declare their solidarity with our great people and the city's residents. We condemn the aggression by the US forces and their collaborating allies in the Iraqi Government."
He calls on Iraqi police "from the north to the south" to show solidarity and to support them by detaching themselves from "this traitor government"
FBIS/JN Bureau plans no further processing.

Arrest him immediately.
Let the voting begin.
He better be gone soon. In the same trash bag as his obese lunatic boss, preferably.
Off with his head!
There is diffentially a power struggle going on right now.
Liberal media seems to be a true physical law on this planet. I'm sure they didn't search for a police officer with a certain set of opinions.
this is what happens, when you fight a political war....instead of going for a total defeat.
I wonder what the Iraqi Police who are fighting and dying in Najaf, Al-Kut, Sadr City and Shulla think about this guy.
If this man is allowed to stay in his offical position for another day, things _are_ tentative at best. It's bad enough that half the Iraqis enjoy seeing other Arabs break the law, shooting and destroying those trying to help them; officals that openly support these criminals must be removed at once, or we are wasting our time.
Yeah, be careful you "Sadr should die" people on this thread.
The "Don't make Sadr a martyr" appeasement types will be here in short order accusing you of being "Dimocrat DU members."
We made a huge mistake in not taking this guy out a long time ago, when he was a minor figure.
Instead, in trying to appease certain elements in Iraq, we've allowed this guy to become a major figure, with more and more support each and every day.
He's not "Iraqi police". Whoever wrote the story (and the editor that ran it that way) should never work in (what passes for) journalism again.
