A Running Theme
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The ability of the Democrats to do exactly what is wrong for national security has been demonstrated again and again... and now again, with Gov. McGreevey's ignominous exit.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
One cant help but be struck by the running themes of the latter-day Democrats: a penchant for relational dysfunction that plays itself out in hackneyed scripts of sexual domination, an inability to grasp base concepts of adult responsibility, and a disregard of fundamental tenets of national security.
Consider the latest Democrat peccadillo, which caused the resignation of first-term New Jersey Governor James McGreevey. By admitting to a homosexual dalliance with a subordinate, he tears a page from a familiar playbook by flooding a sprouting field of corruption allegations [1, 2] with an eye-popping sex-scandal. Just as Bill Clinton was inoculated against Congressional prosecution for far more serious misdeeds than playing hide-the-cigar with an intern, McGreevey clearly hopes that lurid headlines and mawkish appeals for sympathy will steal the oxygen from graver accusations.
There is more to the running theme, however. Reports [e.g., 2, 3] state that the married Governors boy-toy is a poet he picked up in Israel. Back home in the Garden State, he found a position for his lover in the New Jersey executive branch, much as Congressman Barney Frank, D-MA, hired his own gay lover as an aide [4].
Thats bad enough, as it sets the state up for immense liability and opens the door to blackmail, both by the lover and by others--including enemies of America--who would leverage the affair. But sit down before you read further: After 9/11, the Governor of the state that was the second hardest-hit by the destruction of the World Trade Center, James McGreevey chose his pet pouf as his Director of Homeland Security despite the boy poets total lack of experience or expertise in anything relating to protecting life and liberty [5].
The situation is all too reminiscent of the Lewinsky affair, where Bill Clintons disdain for national security was so profound, his judgment so poor, and his hubris so immense that he plopped his zaftig mistress in a cushy Pentagon position substantial enough to place her name on the second page in the Defense Departments hierarchical directory [6] and attend in the VIP section at the Air Forces 50th Anniversary ceremonies [7].
What is it with Democrat politicians and their consistent, ingrained, monotonic attitude of scorn and contempt for Americas security? The Party has chosen as its Presidential standard-bearer its most liberal Senator [8], a man who voted against the B-1 and B-2 bombers, the Tomahawk cruise missile; the Abrams tank; the F-14, -15 and -16 fighters; the Patriot missile, the Aegis air defense system, the Trident missile, the Bradley Fighting Vehicle, the Apache helicopter and the National Anti-Missile Defense System. And as his Senior Adviser for foreign policy, he chose Sandy Berger, a frayed and slipshod ex-National Security Adviser described by former FBI Director Freeh as a public-relations hack [9] and by Clinton pollmeister Dick Morris as seeming to work overtime at opposing tough measures against terror [10]. As Kerrys go-to man for foreign policy in time of global war, Bergers resume includes turning down not one but several opportunities to apprehend or kill Osama bin Laden [11, 12, 13, 14]. Bergers fingerprints are on Clintons infamous aspirin-factory bombing, the sham North Korean nuclear-weapons treaty, and the entire Chinagate episode that allowed Chinas ICBMs to leapfrog a generation in accuracy. Of course, Berger was recently caught stealing and destroying damning documents of interest to the 9/11 Commission, including draft revisions with crucial marginal notes that illuminated the Administrations neglect of the metastasizing global terror threat. He resigned in disgrace as Kerrys Senior Adviser and likely Secretary of State. The frightening thing is that his disgrace was for getting caught filching papers, not for his appalling record as Americas top security adviser.
The disastrous Berger was the toast of the Party, the best, most accomplished and most representative Party professional John Kerry could find to advise on foreign affairs... just as James McGreeveys precious poet was his finest choice for Homeland Security Director from the entire post-9/11 Mid-Atlantic Region.
Its a running theme.

Great article and right on the money.

"...it sets the state up for immense liability and opens the door to blackmail, both by the lover and by others--including enemies of America--who would leverage the affair..."
And this is why a person who is prone to compulsive sexual behavior is unqualified to hold positions of authority -- gov't or business.
JFK's example was often cited to demonstrate effective functioning as president while womanizing. He too was threating national security for the reasons cited in the above quoted passage.
We were just fortunate that the USSR didn't exploit it [that we know of].
Incredible that such a perverted scumbag was elected governor. I heard part of his speech -- what nonsense. That part was all about "me."
More like a running sore.
Thanks for the ping!

From FDR stacking his cabinet with pro-communist hacks to Billy Blythe Clinton giving away multiple warhead technology to China.
The true goal of the Democrat Party is to transform America into a socialist democracy... much like France and Germany.
They have the media on their side for the most part as well as our public schools and halls of higher education. They are an enemy far more deadly than any foreign threat!
bump!
nails it! thx for the ping.
