BTTT
Just checking back in... is this still scheduled to run today as listed above? (I know sometimes C-SPAN sometimes makes last-minutes schedule changes) Thanks!
SUNDAY...SUNDAY...SUNDAY...BE THERE!!!!!
bump
Would enough people have known or cared before... esp. in Massachusetts?
BTW, my understanding is that O'Neill began speaking out against Kerry years ago.
The stakes are higher in a presidential election. Frankly, I wish I had paid more attention to the Arkansas state troopers back on '92.

I just watched it. Kerry was a slimey worm then, and he's a slimey worm today.
Slimier today...he's had all these years to practice.
Did CSPAN (CSPAN1) run the Kerry-O'Neill debate at 6pm ET as scheduled? I had to go out, but left it taping for RaceBannon. I came home and noticed a Cheney town hall meeting or something going on... I thought this debate ran about 2 hours? Thanks in advance. :-)
Yes, and it will be reaired tonight at 9 est. Kerry is a loser.
Thank you. Yes, John F'in Kerry is a BIG loser!
I watched this show, I was flipping channels and came across it. I probably saw the last half of it.
The crowd seemed kind of "hippie," maybe that is the kind of in-studio audience Cavett used to get on his show. A pan of the audience showed a lot of young people. It seemed like whenever Kerry was posed a serious question by O'Neill, he could make a quick joke at O'Neill's expense, get a pretty decent laugh from the crowd, and sidestep the issue entirely. O'Neill did get a good amount of applause for some of his comments, though.
In hindsight, knowing what we know now about the end to the conflict in Vietnam, Kerry comes across in some of his answers as pretty foolish.
The comment that caught my eye, which I haven't seen anyone else notice, is the one where Kerry opines that there is not going to be a bloodbath in VietNam when we pull it.
Thats the one that sticks out in my mind the most. Then, O'Neill counters with all the details and facts of the "bloodbath" that had already occurred when the North Vietnamese took power, and the numbers of refugees who fled to the South (many of them were Catholic Vietnamese who wanted religious freedom).
O'Neill even asked Kerry if he would accept it if the US were not involved, and if North Vietnam were not involved, and let the South Vietnamese sort it out for themselves. I don't think Kerry responded to that, but we all know what scenario he wanted.
I noticed how the state of public discourse has fallen in 30 years. Instead of talking heads screaming over each other and calling each other names for five minutes, we had two reasonably intelligent individuals going head to head for 60 minutes (probably 90 with commercials).
