Dixie Ping!!!!
This BS seems to ooze up about every two months here in SC. Mr. Burnell, I welcome Christians to my neighborhood here in Aiken, but the government I support and will always support is based on the Constitution and Bill of Rights, and as for secession, you'll find only one flag flying at my house. And you may want to think twice if you're pondering replacing that flag at my home.
Am I the only one who realizes this is *exactly* what the Founders did?
Since the early 1900's, the government has stolen our American heritage bit by bit, and most people still don't have a clue as to what has happened.
I'm packin' ---what now? :)
Really? What government is that?
Some things are self evident to most, but apparently not everyone...which, I suppose, explains both your question and the article at issue.
I think if the goverment supported the Constitution and Bill of Rights, many of us would complain a little less than we do.
Not a good idea. Remember what happend the last time South Carolina tried it? Furthermore, I don't think the state is big enough to hold all the Christian Conservatives.
Why not convince the Liberal Secularits to all move to Vermont or Massachussetts instead?
How many times have we kicked this one around. By the way, I am of the opinion that if States were free to join, then States are free to "unjoin", a view not shared by all here on FR.
And I support that right to complain....do it a lot myself. Having said that, it's entertaining to read some of the pathetic drivel about the "free state" crowd. There are screwballs on both ends of the political spectrum. It goes with the territory.
As for South Carolina, it's a wonderful state, with a fine history, and an integral part of these wonderful United States of America. And it will remain so, in spite of a handful of whackos who want to set up a theocracy and try one more time to seceed.
My advice? Park your pickup. Grab a beer. Talk about the old times and remember....pre-season football is finally back.
They would never agree to it because it would hinder them from controlling your pocketbook.
Well in reading the New Testament I see that God wants us to work establishing a Kingdom. That is done by "considering others better than myself," helping my neighbor" and "clothing and feeding the poor." It wasn't about setting up a government to do that, it was about us doing that. So I hope that fellow will start right where he is, and maybe find someone in his neighborhood that needs groceries for their kids. Or a lonely widow who needs someone to fix her heater/air conditioner. I am all for conservative goverment. The Christ like thing to do is treat others the way we want to be treated. Above all to love God with our whole hearts, and to love others as we already love ourselves.
Christians are not called to withdraw. We are in the world, but not of the world.
Besides, I would hardly presume anyplace in the south to be more virtuous. My experience is that there are more churches and more people who attend them in the South. But that appears to be for appearances or social reasons only. It's a southern thing to go to church....and live like hell during the week. In the south, one is a "Christian" kinda like one is an American.
My experience also tells me that Christians who live in hostile environments tend to be much stronger, more real in their faith, and better equipped to defend it.
Really. Why don't you take Afghanistan back and set up your theocracy there. If these freaks cannot accept the fact that this IS a secular nation and rightly so they DO need to go somewhere else. With all due respect to peace loving followers of Christ's teachings.
Because that worked out so well the last time.
LOL, well, I don't drink. I try to block out of my memory, that I was ever in that sorry place called Vietnam, and I am waiting for the NHL season. I could be waiting a long time, I am afraid. By the way, sports really look great on my high definition TV. Love it. later.
Yeah, I hear ya. Go Avs!
