When did Kerry stop working with the CIA? Was he working with the CIA when he was with the VVAW?

The spin later in the day was that he went back to Cambodia with SEALs not CIA ... no explanation for the imaginary friend or his hat. Plus who's going to call Douglas Brinkley to explain how all these details missed the book and what dates, exactly, was he free to carry out all these secret missions. Of course that would mean other parts of the Brinkley book (and Boston Globe biography, too) would have even more errors in them as they're currently published.
