Unless the columnist can show that Barack himself is a Muslim who is pretending to be Christian (not his father, siblings, etc.) , then this is silly.

I've been exchanging private e-mails here with an Osama supporter who is obsessed with promoting the idea that "Osama" is an "African" name and that his father was not Mohammedan.

The Osama supporters must believe that this would damage him.

Well, he is going to have a hard time convincing anyone that Obama is not a Muslim, like I said it is the default assumption of anyone who first hears his name that he is a Muslim. I thought he was a Muslim (or least NOI/Kwesi Mfume wannabes) when I first heard of him.

It's obviously an Arabic name. The related Hebrew word "Baruch" means "blessed."
