A TIME FOR MANHOOD
New York Post ^ | August 11, 2004 | DUNCAN MAXWELL ANDERSON

Posted on 08/11/2004 10:35:07 AM PDT by COURAGE

August 11, 2004 -- THIS November's election is about something everyone is thinking about, and almost no one is talking about. Words like "national security" are fig-leaves for the real subject: manhood.

You might wonder why the recent Democratic convention was the gaudiest display of militarism and macho talk since the Berlin Olympics of 1936 — this, from the party that successfully ran a draft-dodger for president twice, and which won't fund a candidate who doesn't bow to the feminist abortion-god.

The people forgot 9/11. I guess it will take the terrorists to kill more of us not to forget.

The people forgot 9/11

Most, but not all. .......And it took them less than 6 months to do so. Short attention spans combined with irrational hatred for everything Republican, no doubt.

God help us if Americans are that stupid, so as to only be convinced by another mass killing. At the rate things are going, I'm not even sure that if terrorists took out 50 elementary schools, that Michael Moore and his mind-numbed robots wouldn't think it had been faked and/or planned by Bush.

"Meanwhile, the stock of intellectuals goes down "

Actually a TRUE intellectual understands all this.

Only a Pseudo-Intellectual like those clowns in Hollweird and professors who live in ivory towers, insulated from the reality of society, life and war, don't.

"I heard about the Pentagon. We're at war. Somebody's gonna pay."

That says it all doesn`t it? Everyone forgets about the Pentagon. I mean for crying out loud, it`s the freggin` Pentagon.. The Pentagon was attacked. And let`s not forget the initial target was The White House itself. And liberal weenies think that is not a good enough reason to take out these cockroaches hiding in their Mosques? Or terrorism wherever it may be or be supported? Well excuse me pal, but I don`t live in the twilight zone. Just imagine if the White House was taken out and the President killed. Just because they missed doesn`t make it any less serious. The middle east should be kissing the ground thanking Allah or whatever slime they worship that we didn`t blow them all the way of Hiroshima.

I remember commenting to my family on 9/12 that the nation's sudden zeal for everything red white and blue wouldn't last any longer than a television miniseries.

The tide of patriotism in America is miles wide -- but mere inches deep.

"The middle east should be kissing the ground thanking Allah or whatever slime they worship that we didn`t blow them all the way of Hiroshima."

They also should realize that the Hiroshima option never left the table and that, accordingly, they should not push their luck any further than they have already.

Then, again, my Water-for-Oil plan (presented on the FR several times in the recent past) would be infinitely less costly with respect to American and Arab lives and would amount to the permanent placement of the American boot on the back of the unwashed necks of those who would do us harm ......

In my darker hours, I think the only way to make this country stand up, take notice, and pull together a la WWII will be if AQ nukes one of our cities out of existance. Otherwise, we'll just suffer a death of a thousand small cuts. A beheading here, a car bomb there, and media-hyped bad news all day long - pretty soon today's liberal American is ready to give the terrorists what they want just to make the stress go away.

That's when it's all over. God help us indeed.

If Flight 93 had not been delayed for 45 minutes in Newark, and had not taken a circuituous route via Cleveland towards Washington, the White House or Capitol would have been destroyed on 9/11. The delay allowed the passengers to find out what had happened in NY and at the Pentagon, and plan a course of action. The country was extremely lucky in that respect.

C'mon man, these folks think that 9/11 was OUR fault. Of course they'll do everything they can to limit the options we use in response.

Sooner or later, someone will have to realize that we're going to have to do something grand, contraversial, and terrifyingly destructive if we ever hope to win this thing outright.

It's August 1945 all over again.

A great column! It makes me feel (to quote G. Gordon Liddy) "virile, vigorous, and potent"!
