I believe that war over Taiwan is inevitable.

Should the US allow a democratic country such as Taiwan to be taken over? No, IMHO.

China would then have control over the 9th largest economy in the world (not including Hong Kong), China would have control over 90% of the Pacific trade rim, China would therefore be in a position to take over Japan and Guam.

We know a battle is coming, we need to face up to these people and let them know that we will deal with what we have to.

Let us not forget that Communism cannot exist side-by-side with democracy. The goal of communism is world domination. China will be in position to take control of literally over half the world if they take back Taiwan.

We should not betray the trust that the Taiwanese have in us.

Agree? Disagree?

Taiwan is not worth millions of lives. To hell with Taiwan. That's like spending $10,000 to collect 1 Cent.

We waited too damn long to do anything. Hell, way back when we should have let Gen. Patton hit Russia like he wanted and our position today would have been much better with China.

Also, if we used an ICBM with China that would be the begining of the end.

The goal of communism is world domination.

'tis a basic truth we must not forget. Unfortunately, we have forgotten.

I agree, but at the same time the Taiwanese are betraying our trust to a certain extent. We have offered them advanced weapons, including our newest PAC-3 anti-ballistic missiles, and they have so far not purchased them. Their parliament is more interested in spending money on "social programs".

There comes a point where the US must say, "If you want us to defend you, then put your money where your mouth is."
If Taiwan won't spend their own money for their own defense, I am not sure why we should spend our lives and money defending them.
