'Scarborough Country' for August 10 (SwiftVets, Cambodia...)
MSBNC ^ | 11 August 2004 | Pat Buchanan and gang

Posted on 08/11/2004 8:33:54 AM PDT by mcg1969

PAT BUCHANAN, GUEST HOST: Is John Kerry unfit for command? That's what John O‘Neill says. He is the Naval officer who took over command of Kerry‘s swift boat in Vietnam. His new book claims Kerry is no war hero at all, that he didn‘t deserve his Purple Hearts, Bronze Star or Silver Star, and that he committed acts bordering on treason in wartime. John O'Neill is here to tell all for his first interview on MSNBC.

Pat Buchanan hosted Scarborough Country last night and gave a good forum for John O'Neill to make his case. Pat was clearly sympathetic to the cause. He asked John some tough questions, and then let him answer completely.

Anyway, it's a good read. Enjoy.

During the debate that followed, the guests were Lawrence O'Donnell, Jeh Johnson of the Kerry campaign, and Ted Sampley the nutcase running Vietnam Vets against Kerry. The selection of Ted as the only anti-Kerry member of the panel was a big bomb. I mean, look, he and I have a common enemy, but please, he has no media credibility thanks to his wild statements and arrest record. Even Pat talked him down at one point.

Still, Pat did a good job of playing the second anti-Kerry member of the panel, and since he controlled the discussion it was pretty good. Pat hit O'Donnell hard on Cambodia, and the best he answer he could get was "well, what you have to do is decide what journalistic standard your're going to use to weight the evidence." I mean, please.

Also of interest in this transcript, incidentally, is an interview with two SoCal talk show hosts who are planning to campaign against one Republican member of the House, to actually support the Democrat, as a "protest" against their party's limp-wristed response to illegal immigration. Interesting stuff.

It is instructive to remember that Pat was a Nixon speech writer. Though he would never admit it, he does have a dog in this fight. Not good for Kerry because Buchanan has a different kind of visibility than other conservatives.

John O'Neill made a startling revelation on MSNBC Scarborough Country last night, to Pat Buchanan. The reports that that John Kerry's boat was the only one to return and pluck Rassman from the water after being left behind by the other swift boats, was dead wrong on so many details. The boat Rassman was in struck a mine, and three sailors were thrown from the boat. The rest of the flotilla (some five boats) circled around and had pulled two of the sailors from the water, but the stricken boat #3 was still circling. One of the crew members from another boat scrambled aboard and brought #3 under control, as the dazed members of that boat's crew were fallen about the craft. Kerry's boat had fled when the mine exploded. When it was apparent that Kerry was some distance away, he turned and came back to the flotilla, which was still bunched near the stricken boat #3. In a moment of glory, Kerry swept in to Rassman, and allowed him to grab the safety netting by the bow, and he was assisted into Kerry's boat. At no time was there enemy fire from shore.

A couple of other myths were demolished as well, but this was the most striking. Some true heroism was shown that day, but it could not be confined to John Kerry's credit alone.

I managed tokeep eyelids open long enough to see part of this. I saw the entire interview. Didn't see the discussion. I thought O'Neill was credible. He came across as being thorough and fair. Critical, yes, but where criticism is due....well. And lets face it. Criticism is due.

Well yes, this is true gov_bean_counter. In fact there is a funny exchange between O'Donnell and Buchanan in which O'Donnell "recalls" a photo containing O'Neill, Nixon, and Colson. He says there is an extra foot in the photo, and asks Pat if that could possibly have been him---to which he says it could have been :)

I was just looking at Kerry's Vietnam Film that was shown at the DNC. I thought I heard that it was real footage of events? I could be wrong but a couple of things I noticed that makes me skeptical of it being real. If Kerry was a good commander, why is the gunner wearing a white t-shirt on patrol(04:06)? If it was such a hostile area, why is the crew member not wearing a helmet (05:16)? Commanders were and are responsible for the safety of their troops to the best of their ability. Not requiring that crew member to put on the helmet is unnecessary risk.

Funny how in the DNC, they never mentioned how Rassmann got into the water before Kerry heroically saved him.

PING - swift vet account of Rassman pickup...
I heard though that Rassman was on *Kerrys* boat, in fact Kerry/Rassman have 2 different accounts of that.
Rassman in his WSJ said that.
How did he fall out of Kerry's boat? well, Kerry accelerated out of the area, and Rassman fell over. that was a version I heard. true? Is ONeill saying that?

You will hear very little praise from me of Pat but last night he was superb. This was a GREAT show and he and O'Neill enviserated al Kerry and the Liars who tried to defend him.

Keep this up Pat and I will have to start speaking well of you.

The fraudulent nature of Kerry's Silver Star was also revealed. Three eyewitnesses of actions are required for this award Kerry had NONE, the award recommendation is supposed to be Certified- Kerry's was NOT. His commanding office wrote up the recommendation based upon KERRY'S word now states he would not do it again based on the real events not Kerry's LIES.

And they dissected his other medals ALL fraudulently applied for and granted.

Bump for an eye-opening show last night which I hope you all saw.

Kerry's the original Manchurian Candidate. He's not real.

There was a reason he went to Viet Nam with a film camera and why he returned to add extra "footage" to his collection of "war memories."

It concerned the war, but they probably weren't his memories.

He's a phony and he always has been.

And the deceit of the "Boston Globe" was revealed conclusively in their lies concerning Commander Elliott's actual statements against the pretend hero.

No coincidence that the Glob is owned by the "New York Times."

This story had better see more light, or the fix is in and Kerry is President.
