To speak out against the Swiftboat Vets. This ought to be a Barf-O-Rama.

Among other things, Kerry burnishes his Vietnam Service medal by adding four bronze service stars to reflect various campaigns.

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but aren't campaigns identified as 90 day periods? If correct, how does he get 4 campaigns in 132 days?

No. It is up to DOD to designate various campaigns or phases. There is no time limit.

Rassman said he was in the water and believed he was under fire. But the gunner on the boat next to Kerry said no. The guy in the water can't see very well at all and hearing is not much better. He may have been scared, but I doubt he would really know if they were taking fire.

I have been in the water off a big boat and you can't see or hear squat.

"O'Neil is terrific. At last, someone with the presence, facts, and eloquence to make the case. Hannity--please give him the opportunity to answer--don't interrupt him. Let him tell the story. No trying to detaik Kerry's atrocities."

Great job, Hannity.

Colmes, not able to address the issue, infers that because a person makes bigotted statements (not even relevant to the topic at hand) should be considered a liar. Isn't changing the subject an admission of defeat? Sure it is. You'd think the Dems themselves would protect its idol and demand that the records be bared . . . (unless they already know that their king is naked. Heh.)

I could almost feel pity for the dems. Normally I hate to see grown men cry. In Colmes case, I'll make an exception. Implode, suckah. This nation has had its fill of liberal/socialist spin.

"John Kerry went to John Lehman and had him rewrite that award."

The disparity in the dates (14 years), between the actual event and Lehman signing the Silver Star award was pointed out by some very observant Freepers when this whole medals things first came to light. Freepers speculated that Kerry had either pursued the award after he left the service, or had the commendation rewritten. Now we know the truth.

No self-respecting Republican would ever support Kerry .. even if he did save your life.

I have been so mad at O'Reilly,
I watched *gasp* Nancy Grace Live! LOL.

I did see O'Neill on Hannity and Lib, and
I thought he held up amazingly, which goes
to prove, "an honest man cannot be tripped up."

Actually, Rassmann himself has provided several exceedingly different versions of the tale. First, from a Kerry campaign press release:

On March 13, 1969, Rassmann, a Green Beret, was traveling down the Bay Hap river in a boat behind Kerry’s when both were ambushed by exploding land mines and enemy fire coming from the shore. Kerry was hit in the arm, while a mine blew Rassmann’s boat out of the water. With enemy fire coming from both sides of the river and swift boats evacuating from the area, Kerry’s crew chose to turn their boat toward the ambush to save Rassmann.

“We were still under fire, and he was wounded at the time…,” recalled Rassmann. And with his boat’s gunners providing suppressing fire, Kerry extended his wounded arm into the water and the two lieutenants locked arms.

Then there is today's Wall Street Journal article written by Rassman:

While returning from a SEA LORDS operation along the Bay Hap River, a mine detonated under another swift boat. Machine-gun fire erupted from both banks of the river, and a second explosion followed moments later. The second blast blew me off John's swift boat, PCF-94, throwing me into the river. Fearing that the other boats would run me over, I swam to the bottom of the river and stayed there as long as I could hold my breath.

And check out THIS version from the July 29 issue of The Patriot News:

Rassmann, a former Green Beret, remembered sitting on the deck of the pilothouse of Kerry's boat, eating a chocolate-chip cookie, when an explosion under a nearby boat blew him into the Bay Hap River and caused Kerry to smash his arm [against the pilothouse wall].

Rassmann said he instinctively swam to the bottom of the river to avoid being run over by the escaping Swift boats. But every time he came up for air, the enemy shot at him. He swam for the north bank, expecting to be captured and probably executed.

After five or six dives, Rassmann said, he looked up and saw Kerry's boat coming back for him. He met the boat at the center of the river and then grabbed a heavy net made of rope hanging over the bow. He climbed the arch of the bow, but could not pull himself over the lip.

That, he said, is when Kerry came running.

"Kerry dropped to his hands and knees ... and pulled me aboard," Rassmann said. "The fighting continued until we got out of the kill zone, and we managed to get out to the Gulf of Siam."

Details, details. That's the problem with embellishing stories. It's hard to remember what you told to whom.

I had a couple guys call me right after and they were ALL SMILES! They said 'Hey man, you lit the radio on FIRE! Any vet who heard that is ready to go stomp a hole in Kerry right now!

Kudos from another Vietnam vet. Kerry has reopened these wounds and hope this stays a hot issue. This man belongs in prison, not in the White House.

That was my point,he screwed them over 34 years ago,and now he is hurting them all over again. Rassmun has been quoted as saying he is a recovering alcoholic. That could explain a lot about his different memory of what happened. Maybe his pension is lousy and he cannot get a decent job because of the booze.

You don't think th epossibility of a cushy job and millionaire contacts and 16 minutes of fame could make a person hitch their wagon to the wrong horse?

"I agree Lehman is likely to duck this and has great clout as Secretary of the Navy. I doubt they'd level the charge without proof though."

It irrefutable. Lehman wasn't Sec. of the Navy when Kerry won the Silver Star...the commendation that is on Kerry's website and signed by John Lehman who was Sec. of the Navy from 1981-1987.

My dad (USN subrescue diver in the early 50s) left the Democrat party in 1998 after forty years when, while watching the Clinton videotaped testimony, he told me to 'go get me that goddamned form.'

I think one of these days it might be humorous to collect signitures of former Democrats or Independents that left or ceased support for the Democrat party as a result of Clinton's Presidency. We could deliver it right to Terry's doorstep. LOL

I have never trusted Clinton. I opposed him on basis of his character not ideology. I was a 'moderate' Liberal. Not as devoid of soul as the people controlling the party today are but a national health care plan appealed to my lack of desire to take responsibility for my own health. I did my level best to respect Clinton as "President" even when he had no respect for the office. '98 was the year I began to drift from liberal thought and the year I gave up watching the alphabet networks unless absolutely necessary. To this day I will NEVER get over his finger shaking in my face, a lie voiced on his lips, and an astute glance of his audience to determine the reception to his lie. Of everything Clinton ever did that is the incident I take most personally.

Clinton caused more loss for that party than the Dems are willing to admit.

So here is what it looks like to me ... feel free to add or subtract

Rassmann is on Kerry's boat for a day mission.
Other swift boats are in the flotilla.
One of the boats hits a mine, 3 boat someone said.
??? guys are knocked off the 3 boat.
Kerry guns his boat to leave the scene and Rassmann the special ops guy is thrown overboard.
Kerry's boat is the only one to run away
Other boats come to rescue the 3 boat's people in the water.
They hear Rassmann in the water and move to pick him up
Kerry comes back and picks up Rassmann.

Note Rassmann starts on Kerry's boat and gets picked up by Kerry's boat.

So did any of the other people who pulled the 3 boat crew from the water get bronze stars?

Something smells ... real bad.

Need a copy of this book now.

But I think they are identified in 90 day periods. I'll do some research on this tho.

True, but somehow some think it gives Rassmann credibility.
