And who is he, really?
A close associate hints: There's a secret compartment in Kerry's briefcase. He carries the black attaché everywhere. Asked about it on several occasions, Kerry brushed it aside. Finally, trapped in an interview, he exhaled and clicked open his case.
"Who told you?" he demanded as he reached inside. "My friends don't know about this."
The hat was a little mildewy. The green camouflage was fading, the seams fraying.
"My good luck hat," Kerry said, happy to see it. "Given to me by a CIA guy as we went in for a special mission in Cambodia."
Kerry put on the hat, pulling the brim over his forehead. His blue button-down shirt and tie clashed with the camouflage. He pointed his finger and raised his thumb, creating an imaginary gun. He looked silly, yet suddenly his campaign message was clear: Citizen-soldier. Linking patriotism to public service. It wasn't complex after all; it was Kerry.

Man oh man... this is SO dramatic!!! it could only happen in a movie.
I saved that baby....I have the Joe Wilson page saved as well. I also have a page saved on a speech detailing national security.....a speech that, on the same day, Berger gave another speech, the one the GOP says he used the pilfered docs for.
I saved some of the military records info from other pages since apparently, the January Spot Reports from the Kerry site have been deleted for some reason. I did not find a PDF of them anywhere else though.
It is amazing what is being deleted from his site.
says it is "undergoing maintenance"...lol
I PDF'd the page. After I Couldn't get to it through the Wastington Post.
Thank GOD for Adobe. :-)
"I remember spending Christmas Eve of 1968 five miles across the Cambodian border being shot at by our South Vietnamese allies who were drunk and celebrating Christmas. The absurdity of almost being killed by our own allies in a country in which President Nixon claimed there were no American troops was very real."
Seeing that it was 1979, there's probably no Internet link, but somebody needs to get hold of the actual paper from that year. That's a damning statement that is an outright falsehood about Nixon. Much more so than the 1986 Senate floor speech where he says "my president" instead of "Nixon".
Has anyone else noticed how Kerry's story begins to parallel Apocalypse Now? I guess we should be happy he isn't running around telling everyone that one of his Purple Heart wounds was caused by a spear through the back!

This article is ON THE CAMPAIGN'S OWN WEBSITE......explosive because it shows the campaign can't even keep stories straight:

It really sounds as though Kerry has spent so much time fantasizing about his heroism that he has lost touch reality. Now, I want to know the truth about the attache case. Does he still have it?
I guess my joke about taking the CIA operative on a secret mission into Cambodia is not so far off the mark. They say that the best humor always has a grain of truth. I notice that a lot of other people saw a resemblance to the movie as well.
Well, isn't that hat a convience. Funny he didn't mention it in his "journal" or on any other occassion. CIA guy comes up to him... all the guys in VN and HE gets picked.
John of Arc.

This link will take you to the story of John Elliot Williams of Darlington, SC. This man (now deceased) was a true naval hero of the kind Kerry can only fantasize about being. Elliot Williams did not run around telling the world about his time in Vietnam even though he had more to talk about than almost anyone else.
Thanks for the link. A great read.

JANUARY -- NOT CHRISTMAS -- KERRY IN CAMBODIA
**Exclusive**
TOUR OF DUTY author and John Kerry historian Doug Brinkley is rushing a piece for the NEW YORKER: to set-the-record-straight on Kerry's Christmas in Cambodia tale, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.
Kerry has turned to author Brinkley for a "modification" after it was exposed that Kerry was not in Cambodia during Christmas of 1968, as he once claimed from the Senate floor.
The Brinkley piece for the NEW YORKER will now say that Kerry was not in Cambodia during Christmas, but rather in January, publishing sources tell DRUDGE.
MORE
Since the early 1970s, Kerry has spoken and written of how he was illegally ordered to enter Cambodia. Kerry mentioned it in the floor of the Senate in 1986 when he charged that President Reagans actions in Central America were leading the U.S. in another Vietnam. Heres what he said as excerpted from the new book, UNFIT FOR COMMAND:
"I remember Christmas of 1968 sitting on a gunboat in Cambodia. I remember what it was like to be shot at by the Vietnamese and Khmer Rouge and Cambodians, and have the president of the United States telling the American people that I was not there; the troops were not in Cambodia. I have that memory which is seared--seared--in me."
John ONeils, author of UNFIT FOR COMMAND, comments on the clarification:
John Kerry describes Christmas Eve in Cambodia as a critical turning point in his life. We now know that his story is completely false. My question is how many people do you know have invented a turning point, one that is seared in his memory? While it makes sense for John Kerry to come clean about the Cambodia story, it is one of several tales that the Kerry campaign will have to face and clarify.
By claiming we were engaged in a war crime and crossing international borders, John Kerry damaged the credibility of all the commanding officers above him and insulted the sailors who served with him, said John ONeill, member of Swift Boat Veterans for Truth.
