Today Is Primary (and Run-Off) Election Day In Colorado and Georgia!

Posted on 08/10/2004 6:18:45 AM PDT by MplsSteve

The premiere election to watch today is the GOP US Senate primary in Colorado.

The two major contestants are Pete Coors and former US Rep Bob Schaffer. By most accounts, it has been a hard-fought race and it appears as though it will go down to the wire. The winner will face state Atty Genl Ken Salazar.

In CD-3, there is a multi-candidate GOP primary for the seat being vacated by Rep Scott McInnis.

In Georgia, there are two run-off elections, one for the seat being vacated by Johnny Isakson and the other being vacated by Mac Collins. In the 6th District, state senators Bob Lamutt and Tom Price square off. In the 8th District, Dylan Glenn (a black Republican) and Lynn Westmoreland face each other.

Johnny Isakson's Democrat opponent for US Senate will be decided today in the run-off between Rep. Denise Majette and businessmann Cliff Oxford.

Who's gonna win? Why? Any gossip or tidbits you wanna share?

Opinions anyone?

I predict Pete Coors wins in Colorado and Denise Majette wins in Georgia.

I'll go out on a limb and predict that Dylan Glenn will win in Georgia... in an upset.

Not even close...Coor's by 20%...a bit surprising how wide a margin that was...

Marilyn Musgrave coasted to an easy victory...

Other local results, for Weld County:

Ken Buck will be the new District Attorney (used to work for Cheney during Iran-Contra hearings)

Pam Groeger upset Bob McFadden apparently through absentee ballots
