There are some who say that Keyes hasn't got a prayer of beating Obama. So what? At the very least, the interest excited by his candidacy may stimulate black Americans to take a serious look at the issues from a perspective foreign to most of them. It could have far-reaching consequences beyond a simple victory or defeat.

That's what Mary Mitchell (I think that is her name) said that the pubbies had played the race card with Keyes.
So he played it back at the demo rats.
Talk about calling a slave holder a slave holder.
Historically that has always been the way the demo rats have been.

Just to clarify, it was this remark I am referring to: "I would still be picking cotton if the country's moral principles had not been shaped by the Declaration of Independence," Keyes said. He said Obama "has broken and rejected those principles-- he has taken the slaveholder's position."
I'd like to know how he expects that to resonate with a lot of voters... Good? Bad?

By tomorrow morning, the leftists will be out in force saying that Keyes is a "house slave" like Condi Rice and Colin Powell.

Asked specifically about the phrase "slaveholder's position," Obama said Keyes "should look to members of his own party to see if that's appropriate if he's going to use that kind of language." I do declare! Fightin' words if I ever heard them. Telling Alan Keyes where to find "appropriate" language! Man O' Man. This will be fun.
To: Chad Fairbanks
Somebody will be right along to explain to you why that's not playing the race card.

I think in this case it was a defensive move, use it first before the other guy... one less card in the deck once it's been played.

Now wait just a cotton pickin' minute - are you telling me that the democrats are racists? Well, I agree with you - they are. However, it isn't just blacks that the 'rats are screwing over - it's everyone.

By tomorrow morning, the leftists will be out in force saying that Keyes is a "house slave" like Condi Rice and Colin Powell. Keyes went on a pre-emptive strike. Invoking the slavery before the Lefties.

Go, Keyes, go! NO! McCainiac washed up loser Mike Murphy says it would be better not to oppose Obama at all. Boo hoo!
To: proust
I hope so. Keyes has a lot going against him in this race - the residency thing, the late start, etc... I hope he knows what he's doing...
