Since Barnes and Noble took it upon themselves to change the name of UNFIT FOR COMMAND to FIT FOR CoMMAND, I thought that some of you might be interested in making a few phone calls or writing some letters.

Some bloggers are reporting that the site might have been hacked into. Drudge is reporting this story now.

What is this referring to? I was just in a B&N and the cover of the book is the same as anywhere else. Did they do an ad that called it "Fit" instead of "Unfit" or what? It's not like the entire company has printed fake dust jackets with a new cover and placed them on all copies of the book in their stores.

Take a look at www.Barnes&Noble.com and look up UNFIT for CoMMAND. You will see a changed cover and title.

Ok, I went to Drudge and now I understand. But even if their website had the wrong title, the words "swift boat veterans speak out against John Kerry" still appeared, and anyone who ordered the book would get the real deal. If B&N was hacked and responded appropriately once aware of the problem, I see no need to get upset with them.

I called. Was told I'd have to contact Barnes & Noble.com. Their phone number is 212-414-6000. The person who answered the phone acted unaware it had been changed and transfered my call to a voice mail message (please press 1 for...., 2 for....etc. Could not get a person to talk to.

If you go to their website, the book is called "Fit For Command". A small thumbnail of the book that appears in the bestseller list shows a different cover, with Kerry and his "band of brothers" on board the Swift Boat.
When I went to bn.com the first thing I saw on their website is that I can pre-order Fahrenheit 911 on DVD. Strangely, the title had not been altered to "A Giant Load of Horse Dung Aimed at Defeating President Bush".

My first reaction was "who cares? Let 'em sell more books and let those Kerry supporters read the truth." But they'd probably read it as a confirmation of his "heroics" and "leadership". After all, they haven't read anything else correctly (911 Commision Report, Constitution, etc.).

Can't believe the Barnes&Noble commercial website is so easily hacked.
Benign neglect from lib staffers at B&N?

Fit for Command: Swift Boat Veterans Speak Out against John Kerry |
From the Publisher |
In 1971 John ONeillthe officer who took over John Kerrys Swift Boat in Vietnam returned home from Vietnam only to realize that the man he served with, John Kerry, had become a leader of the radical group, Vietnam Veterans Against the War and was slandering his fellow veterans as war criminals. ONeill debated John Kerry on the Dick Cavett show in 1971, successfully demolishing Kerrys accusations against his fellow troops in Vietnam. In his new book, Unfit for Command, ONeill and co-author Jerome Corsi bring together the voices of more than two hundred Navy veterans who served with Kerry, and who feel it their duty to tell why John Kerry is unworthy of the presidency. |

Just went to B&N and the title listed is Fit to Command. Tried calling and the person who answered played dumb and then put me into an automated system with no human contact. Going now to check Borders and Amazon.
