Very interesting piece from the latest W. biographer. It would seem that the man is much more complex than the cartoon portrayed by the media.

Good article - I was just at the Promise keepers Convention in Atlanta and they try to stay apolitical, but they were admant about making the audience know that integrity counts. They made sure to let the men there know that they could not profess to be Christians and still vote for someone who would not oppose abortion or same sex "marriage". I got a chuckle when one of the speakers was demonstrating God's integrity by cutting a watermelon up - he said that we didn't have to cut through the rind to know that there was watermelon inside because God's creations let you know what's on the inside by what's on the outside. He then mentioned the irony of how you pick a watermelon - you thump it and listen for a hollow sound - so, you find one that sounds empty and you buy it; he then quipped, "Who ya gonna vote for?" 16,000 men laughing is a beautiful sound!

***The reason is that in the 1970's, liberal educators decided that teaching kids to read with phonics — sounding out words — was dull.***

Those who can't read, can't vote intelligently.

Thanks, deport! I would have missed this if you hadn't pinged me.

The author could have avoided his mistake about Gore if he had watched C-SPAN's "Road to the White House" every weekend in the year preceding the election, as I did.

President Bush's character was in full view for those who were interested.

However, I am glad to see that an impartial person has written a book. I am especially glad to see that the maids, ushers, Secret Service and the like were interviewed.

KESSLER: You bet! I feel that 95 percent of the president's job is protecting us. Based on all my dealings with the CIA and FBI going back decades and my knowledge of how the war on terror is conducted, Bush is critically important to making us safer.

Good Article .. Thanks for the ping

...and wouldn't this rank as a very visible instance of that supposedly non-existent species, the Gore voter who will now vote for W?

Dan

Conservatives aren't exactly surprised to learn that GWB is a smart, personable man who knows how to listen and take advice and make an intelligent, informed decision.

No, we're just surprised when a writer is honest enough to admit that his early impressions were wrong and that we were right all along!

Why, yes it would, Dan! He is joining the list of the non-existant Gore voters who will vote for W...Zell Miller, Ed Koch, and the mayor of St. Paul, Minnesota.

Thank so much for posting this, cincinatus, and thanks for the ping, MM. This is so refreshing and uplifting to read - for a change! I want to jump up and down and throw things and scream at the garbage the MSM is shoving down the throats of America. They have no shame, and no honor, and are not even pretending anymore to hide their agenda: "whatever it takes to defeat our President in '04 since it didn't work in 2000.

The only thing I disagree with was the notion that Algore won the debates. Dubya cleaned his clock all three times, and Cheney shredded Lieberman. If anything, the Tree hurt himself more with his childish antics and his makeup job than helped sway voters with Dengel-Norwood.

He says exactly what he thinks, so he must be unsophisticated.

Te-ray-sa says exactly what she thinks and she is sophisticated?

I believe that the term commonly used for a woman her age who speaks what she thinks is "brassy."

Someone should tell her that is it permissible to have an unexpressed thought.
