Wondering if anyone saw the extremely dismal movie, "Hours" which has a sub-message saying 'go head, commit suicide...you don't owe a thing to anyone but yourself."
My elderly mom picked it out for us to watch together because she thought it was a "gal flick." Er...lesbian flick with suicide is good for you overtones.
I have a rule of thumb for movies: If it has Meryl Streep, it's bound to contain some kind of "important" preachy message, so I avoid it. I have another rule of thumb: If a writer or artist committed suicide, that negates everything they said or did before. Virginia Woolfe's choices were unfortunate, and her stories are baleful and depressing. I don't need that.
