Large Crowd waiting for Kerry Train in Flagstaff
Several said they haven't heard enough from Bush to help them decide, but one guy said he didn't see anything about Kerry to make him decide he'd be any better than Bush. The general theme was people were still deciding.
As a rule Flagstaff is pretty liberal and many had pre-voted on Absentee Ballots for Howard Dean in the primary.
100,000 ???? wow...
There are only 55,000 people in Flagstaff. Unless they bused the rest up 17 from Phoenix, I doubt there's 100k.
100,000 people in downtown Flag?
You'll forgive me if I'm a bit skeptical.
100,000? At a train station? That's more people than is in attendance at most NFL games...according to the web, there's only 52,894 human beings in Flagstaff.
According to the 2000 census Flagstaff has a total population of 52,000+. Wonder where all the folks came from????
100,000, hmmmmm... Knowing the way the "other side" does math when it comes to crowd size, you might want to cut that by about 80,000 or so.
Any protesters being shown?
BTW, Welcome to FR.
Yep, that's gotta be a typo or a mis-report. They can't draw 100k for any sports event or concert in Phoenix, and I'm supposed to believe a campaign stop in Flagstaff is gonna draw 100k?
Just for perspective, 100,000 people is MORE than the seating capacity of the Rose Bowl.
My guess is the Kerry camp is floating the 10k number, which they've been murmuring about at many campaign stops according to my reading at NRO Kerry Spot or NRO Corner (can't remember which.) Some blog joked about even those estimates with crowds that police staff suggested were lucky to be half that.
That's a lot of cartons of cigarettes.
I grew up and went to College in Flagstaff. What you have to remember is that at that altitude (not to mention the isolation from the rest of the real world) a few hundred looks more like 100,000. Besides - The Depot there can hardly hold 50 people. I know as I used to play there when I was a kid.
Someone screwed up. I don't see how 10,000 could fit in downtown Flagstaff let alone 100,000. I bet 1,000 is more like it... if that.
He only drew 5 grand in Gallup, NM. I've been to the train station in Flagstaff, there's no place to put eve 10,000. Let alone park in downtown Flag.
and as a rule the sonoran desert is pretty dry.
Bravo Sierra
"Several said they haven't heard enough from Bush to help them decide.."
I guess they haven't been listening! He's only been President for the last four years! They must be real I D 10 Ts!
100,000! Not buying it! First of all Fox ten hasn't come on yet. Second, there are not that many people in all of Flag! I smell troll bait.
the 100,000 figure will seem low when after the election it is shown that 200,000 people have voted for kerry.
" I smell troll bait"
I was thinking the same thing. They're crawling out from under their slimy rocks all the time here at FR.
My apologies, news just came on & a bystander mentioned 100,000 attendee's. I jumped the gun. Still I cannot believe that many people could attend!
That I seriously doubt.
