Statement by Bush-Cheney ’04 Bernalillo County Chair Darren White
George W. Bush ^ | August 7, 2004

Bernalillo County Chair Darren White released the following statement:

“John Kerry can falsely attack the President’s record of supporting our nation’s veterans, but he can’t change the fact that veterans health care funding has increased 40 percent since the President took office and 24 Medal of Honor recipients have signed a letter asking Kerry to stop his baseless assertions. Veterans are doing everything possible to support President Bush because he is doing everything possible to support us,” said White.

“New Mexico’s veterans aren’t going to trust a candidate who votes to send our troops to war and then opposes $87 billion in funding to send them essential supplies like body armor. Kerry says he is ‘proud’ of his vote and claims his reasons for it are ‘complicated,’ but veterans know there is nothing complicated about supporting American troops fighting for our freedom. Playing politics with our national security may be popular among Kerry’s liberal base, but doesn’t play well at places like Holloman Air Force Base here in New Mexico,” said White.
