your descriptions of what's going on seem pretty sound to me - it's almost as though our society is like a spoiled kid who doesn't really want to face responsibility and the reality of growing up - I thought maybe 911 had brought some maturity to us, but many still seem to want to hide behind wishful thinking, escapism, and self-indulgence rather than making tough decisions and judgments.

That's liberalism in a nutshell, the outlook on life of spoiled, selfish child: they want to do what they want, think that they are entitled to whatever they want, and, when things go wrong (as they are wont to do), they demand that someone save them from the consequences of their foolish behavior.

One thing that particularly strikes me is the pervasive resistance to facing reality (economic, biological, cultural, etc.) in our society. People want to do what they want to do, and so believe what they want to believe, and reality means nothing. Jesus Christ could come down from Heaven and point out, for instance, the destructive effects of family breakdown on society and even on themselves and they would ignore Him.

People want to do what they want to do, and so believe what they want to believe, and reality means nothing...very true - a particular form of this is that they must be constantly entertained, and if something isn't particularly interesting and exciting to them, they quickly abandon it no matter what its substance and intrinsic value, and move on to the next thing which attracts their attention...Betaille in one of the posts above mentioned how the "good" quickly becomes "boring", which is often what happens - IMO this is a major reason the Clintons have been so popular - they're such a curiosity and so unpredictable and even "dangerous" that they appeal to that need in so many to escape the mundane but serious and real...I just hope the novelty wears off before enough people vote for Hillary to get their entertainment fix that she becomes president......
