You make some valid points, and I don't necessarily disagree with you on the *effects* of much of Nixon's domestic policy. But I still disagree with the RINO designation--Nixon was a Republican's Republican. One has to keep in mind that, for the duration of his term in office, the Dims controlled both houses of Congress, and were also deeply entrenched in the hostile bureaucracy. This while the Vietnam war raged and there were riots in the streets--the country truly felt like it was unraveling. In the light of this, I'm apt to cut Nixon a little slack on the domestic front.
Nevertheless, your points about some of the silly programs that got their start during his tenure is well-taken.
