We can fight this by refusing to call them LIBERALS. They have co-opted a word that used to stand for LIBERTY. The closest thing today to the classical definition of liberal is a Libertarian. Today's so-called "liberals" are nothing more than Marxists. We should start calling them leftists or socialists. These are much more accurate terms.

Precisely. You are right - these are no longer "liberals" as liberals used to be defined. Instead, they are power-hungry, leftist Elistists.

I think I have the right word for them. Since liberals want to return to the "Great Society" and "New Deal" days of redistributing wealth and controlling the economy, they essentially want to "turn back the clock". Meanwhile, they go around calling themselves "progressives".
We should call the regressives. They would howl about that, since that's what they like to call conservatives.
