Look, Keyes said what he said; leave Cheney out of this. He didn't consider himself in contention; after Cheney's search, Bush decided HE wanted him. It's not the same.
Actually, it is alike. The similarities are stunning:
Both men made honest predictions on their own political future. After being asked, in both cases, to serve in a public office they hadn't sought, these men decided they would do what they hadn't previously considered doing, for the good of the country.
At least, that's what I hope. Keyes hasn't made any announcement yet.
