WHAT KERRY DID [KJL]
Listen, he wasn't president on Sept. 11, and I am not questioning his reflexes or reactions, but it is worth noting what Kerry did do on Sept. 11, 2001. Here's what he told Larry King: "...And as I came in [to a meeting in Sen. Daschle's office], Barbara Boxer and Harry Reid were standing there, and we watched the second plane come in to the building. And we shortly thereafter sat down at the table and then we just realized nobody could think, and then boom, right behind us, we saw the cloud of explosion at the Pentagon..."
Kudos to Red State for finding that. And for noting: "It should be noted that the second plane hit the World Trade Center at 9:03 a.m., and the plane hit the Pentagon at 9:43 a.m. By Kerry's own words, he and his fellow senators sat there for forty minutes, realizing 'nobody could think.'"
RUDY's comment on this was priceless, comparing Kerry to Moore..............just what Kerry needs to do.
What a great find. Then again, this is Flipper. He should know better than to open his mouth on any issue; his own record will somewhere contradict it.
True. But also remember . . . IIRC when the first plane hit, everyone thought it was an accident. It wasn't until the SECOND plan hit that anyone realized we were under attack.
Why would the President be expected to jump up and run out of the school room because of an accident?

Thank you, thank you. I've never heard anyone else state the obvious so well.
Regarding the 7 minutes. I'd heard sometime before that when told of the attack, Bush was also told that the Secret Service said they would move the President to the Airport as soon as they were sure he could be moved securely. Can anyone confirm this?
BUMP
KING: Were you scared?
KERRY: No, I wasn't scared,
KING: Were you scared?
HEINZ KERRY: I was a little scared, actually.
Maybe Kerrie had a another Vietnam flashback.
It is my understanding that the President was told of the first plane before he entered the classroom. When Card whispered to the President, he was notifying him of the second plane flying into the WTC.
Oops, I forgot to say...
Welcome to Free Republic
Roll Tide!
Has anyone sent this to Rush?
I think he was talking about the issue yesterday. He would want to know this!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I wouldn't put too much faith in that if it came via e-mail.

The interview was with Teresa and John. That is why some quotes are preceded by "Kerry" (John) and "Heinz Kerry" (Teresa). He was asking both of them questions.
- John F. Kerry
Either michael moore thinks he's a teacher...or john kerry is wrong!
Either way. . . HIDE THE CHILDREN!!!
No, President Bush reacted immediately. Card told him what steps were being taken, and he therefore knew he had a few moments to continue talking with the children while his advisors and assistants were arranging for his departure to a secure location. If he had been in immediate danger, you can be sure the Secret Service would've whisked him away at that instant. They do not need his express permission to do that. He did not take seven minutes to react.
But Kerry the hypocrite did take 40 minutes to react.
Let's keep this bumped!!!!!!!!!!!!!
1.3 NATIONAL CRISIS MANAGEMENT
When American 11 struck the World Trade Center at 8:46, no one in the White House or traveling with the President knew that it had been hijacked. While that information circulated within the FAA, we found no evidence that the hijacking was reported to any other agency in Washington before 8:46.179
Most federal agencies learned about the crash in New York from CNN.180
Within the FAA,the administrator, Jane Garvey, and her acting deputy,Monte Belger, had not been told of a confirmed hijacking before they learned from television that a plane had crashed.181
Others in the agency were aware of it, as we explained earlier in this chapter. Inside the National Military Command Center, the deputy director of operations and his assistant began notifying senior Pentagon officials of the incident.
At about 9:00, the senior NMCC operations officer reached out to the FAA operations center for information.Although the NMCC was advised of the hijacking of American 11, the scrambling of jets was not discussed.182
In Sarasota, Florida, the presidential motorcade was arriving at the Emma E. Booker Elementary School, where President Bush was to read to a class and talk about education.White House Chief of Staff Andrew Card told us he was standing with the President outside the classroom when Senior Advisor to the President Karl Rove first informed them that a small, twin-engine plane had crashed into the World Trade Center. The Presidents reaction was that the incident must have been caused by pilot error.183
At 8:55, before entering the classroom, the President spoke to National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice, who was at the White House. She recalled first telling the President it was a twin-engine aircraftand then a commercial aircraftthat had struck the World Trade Center, adding thats all we know right now, Mr. President.184
At the White House,Vice President Dick Cheney had just sat down for a meeting when his assistant told him to turn on his television because a plane had struck the North Tower of the World Trade Center. The Vice President was wondering how the hell could a plane hit the World Trade Center when he saw the second aircraft strike the South Tower.185
Elsewhere in the White House, a series of 9:00 meetings was about to begin. In the absence of information that the crash was anything other than an accident, the White House staff monitored the news as they went ahead with their regular schedules.186
Great find. I'm sure Kerry would do it smarter the next time the twin towers are hit. The dip stick.
