I will say this - the Swifites better have their t's crossed and their i's dotted. If this turns out to be overhyped or false to any degree, Bush will suffer bigtime. To be honest, the way Kerry was flailing around lately, I'd rather this didn't come out at this juncture. Kerry was going down anyway, this might actually backfire and help him.

I don't think there's any conceivable way for Kerry and Edwards to make a brazen, open attempt at press intimidation (which is
precisely what their threatening letter amounts to, obviously) and have said effort "help them," -- long OR short term.
The fact that they've been caught blatantly lying, in the process, certainly isn't going to play well in Boise, either. :)

this might actually backfire and help himIt could, but I doubt it. Not only that, but as one of the vets in the ads said, they've paid for the right to air this with blood. That's something very few of us can claim (including me).

You may be correct. I thought that the stuff on Clinton would stick but it didn't, just made him more popular.

I can't help but think of the fates of the signers of the Declaration of Independence. I'm sure those that appear in the ad are quite aware of what their fate will be, after seeing the fate of those that dared to be a threat to the Clinton's politics by telling the truth.

There seems to be something much larger at stake here, the right of ordinary citizens who are not part of any elite of either major party, or of any media or academic elite, to speak out the truth.
