A Denial of Service (DoS) attack is where someone floods a website with so many requests, it basically sucks up all the available bandwidth. Sometimes it can be as easy as downloading a large file from the server hundreds of time @ once. Other times it is a lot more complicated and involves hacking servers, etc.

It is possible that they are not having a dos attack. It could be just a flood of traffic trying to download and view the movie couldn't it?.
