I meant that the media had dug it up before and kind of let it rest because it was so old. Then when this Dem operative reported it to the media as a big find, it was released at the last minute to do maximum damage.
At the same time, Al Gore's drug use was on a documentary (NPR-Frontline or something similr?) the night before the first debate. They had a close friend of Gore's who smoked pot regularly with him on the Gore farm. Gore went to Wash. and the friend continued to send him dope for quite some time. This lay like a dead dog in the foggy bottom of the major media. Meantime, they avidly hunted for someone to say they knew of GWB's smoking pot, using drugs, etc. Never could find anyone. Yet,they ran with the DUI story as though it was the biggest news--double standard, business as usual for the major media.
Frankly, with the election so close, I am pessimistic about the media/Dems coming up with something--anything--two days before voting. They will run with just an accusation to help the Dems. Also plenty worried about voter fraud. That woman in FL whose last wish was for Bush to lose need not worry. The fact she was buried in Aug. need not stop her from voting--and probably won't.

Just what Shelby needs is someone else who acts as an enabler for his self serving antics. Disgraceful.
People, people. Let us think about this a bit, following Oxen's lead. The only reason the government knew this information had been leaked was because CNN AIRED IT! Therefore, the primary source of information for the FBI was CNN!! I imagine CNN was questioned and Dana Bash (appropriate name, eh?) revealed the source. I also imagine Cameron was named as someone who interviewed Senator Shelby at the same time, and Cameron was asked to confirm this information, which he apparently did not, as revealed in his denial.
I have no particular love for Cameron, whom I think is leaning more towards Kerry than I would prefer in a reporter covering the Kerry campaign, but this article is a classic case of misdirection.
You seem to have a bad mental block in this discussion. I HAVE NEVER SAID I SUPPORT SHELBY! I have no knowledge of his guilt or innocence. The people of Alabama will have to decide this ultimately.
What I DO SUPPORT is anyone's right to switch parties, if their conscience dictates it. If the electorate disagrees with a pols move, they will have the chance to vote him (or her) out of office soon enough. Lt. Governor Amy Tuck of Mississippi is a glowing example of this type of move. SHE (after switching from dim to Republican) was overwhelmingly re-elected!
I find your statement calling me disgusting, to be disappointing in nature. I hold no such disdain for you personally, and you should show me that same respect. You act like a lib... debate=personal attack!

If true, he should get what he deserves.
Never did trust Shelby after impeachment.
No of course he isn't, but the point is.... Robert Novak did NOT give up his SOURCE, Carl Cameron did!! Unless I missed this revalatiion?
I second the nomination on that MM Dectective of the Month Award. The whole article is a blur & everyone is jumping on a conclusion based on the headline or a name. Dana Bash & CNN need some bashing here.
Then let me ask you, what are you doing on this thread? The very topic is the subject of his alleged leaks and the discussion has focused for the most part on how he should be punished. If you're not willing to take a position on THAT, then what are you here for?
P.S. My disgust was not directed at you personally, just at the mentality that would lead someone to (at least in my eyes) defend this scoundrel.
Waiting for Bob Novak to tell the world who gave him the Valerie Plame tip.
He should be sensured if true by the Republicans leading the charge.
I'd like to say I'm shocked...I really would like to. Mama told me not to lie.
The problem is, he won't get it. If he were in the FBI, CIA, military, etc., he would be in a world of trouble for leaking classified info, but he's not.
Did you expect, or want, Carl Cameron to lie to FBI investigators?
how about saying nothing, like the rest of the media would have.
Well, saw him on Fox this morning. Looks like he still has a job.
No kidding, I hate the way he refers to The President as "Mr. Bush".
He is slimy...
