A very principled conservative . And smart too. Hillary changed the rules when she carpet bagged to NY. No need for the Republicans or Keys to hold back when the rules change. As has been said by other posters, Alan was invited to run in Ill, he did not impose himself on the Republican party. Win or lose, Alan Keys willl make the race exciting and maybe historic. When was the last time two black candidates for senate ran against each other? Just asking as I don't know.

Oops--just realized that OBama might not be black so the historical aspect would be moot. Anyway, Alan Keys can hold his own in any debate and given the seeming disarray in the Ill Rep party, he should be a good strong candidate for them. Hope he decides to accept the offer.

Two major-candidate black candidates running for the Senate against each other? It's never happened before.

Of course, Obama barely knew his Kenyan father (he was raised by his white mother and maternal grandparents in Hawaii), so Obama is not really culturally black.
