It's official! Yahoo!
It's probably similar to the way Texans feel about beans in their chilli. (Did I get that right?)
The real problem is they couldn't find one qualified person with a squeaky clean personal history to run against Obama. To run as a Republican these days, you need to have a squeaky clean "eagle scout who married young" type of background, without a lot of old girl friends and certainly no extramarital affairs or drug use. Every Pubbie knows the liberal media is out to roast him/her and will stop at nothing to find dirt, as we saw with Jack Ryan. I thought it was despicable for the AP to sue to unseal Ryan's divorce records, and I have no idea why any judge granted this request (except that the Judge might have been afraid of all those DNC operatives.) There are a lot of people who would like to run for the US senate, but they don't want every day of their lives to be investigated and written up by a##hole democrat journalists. We really have to start finding more folks with squeaky clean backgrounds and persuade them to become Pubbie politicians. It's a new calling in life.
No, you're crapping on all the principles by mindlessly repeating some bullsh$t line about "evil".
You behave in an unprincipled manner because you place your ideology above your principles, then you have become that which you detest the most.
You lie down with dogs, you get fleas.
If it comes down to a 'beauty contest' I think he will suffer the fate of Adlai Stevenson; admired by everyone but unelectable.
Though I have my misgivings over a Keyes candidacy, I'm actually looking forward to their debates.
Well, dude, you haven't given a reason why it is wrong. You just keep repeating that you think it is. But saying it's so doesn't make it so.
We don't have to be fair to EVIL.
I always thought Keyes would do well in the Senate. I hope he wins this.
No, the best thing it can do is to bring out the party faithful and give Bush as shot at Illinois. Keyes will probably lose, but I don't think Illinois Democrats are enamored with Kerry, so they might take a pass on Kerry or even vote their pocket books and their security concerns and pull the lever for Bush.
Obama is a shoe in. But Bush can win Illinois if enough hard line conservatives turn out for Keyes.
LOL! Perfect description.
And of course it's not important how "REAL" the numbers are, only that I am ignoring them. LOL.
I appreciate your honest answer. Of course, given that these are the cards we're dealt, I'm rooting for Keyes ... but I'm just saying Keyes is vulnerable to the carpetbagging charge.
Keyes doesn't have a snowball's chance in HELL of winning.
He's someone who has NOT supported President Bush,so why should he now expect Conservatives and regular GOPers to support him, especially when he's going to be a carpetbagger...should he accept this ANOINTMENT?And speaking about being "anointed",he's looking more and more like Hillary,as time goes on.
Are YOU writing off the GOP team in '08,without even knowing who'll be running?
Well, if that word is "No" then yes, he can hold his own with Keyes.
All he has to do is say "I'm not debating."
Now who's being presumptuous?
And no, it is not nitpicking to use the actual words of the definition to demonstrate that it does not apply. If he accepts the responsibility, it will not be presumptuously seeking, but [hopefully/humbly/reluctantly] accepting what the state GOP has explicitly stated is their will. Also, he must be considering at this time whether or not the other alternatives are acceptable.
God forbid!
It's not a "BS" answer. If the state Republican party had not asked Keyes to make a try
for this Senate seat we would not be having this conversation right now. I sure Dr. Keyes
knows how this looks. He's not going into this with his eyes closed.
Hillary was looking for some state election to intrude on. They got a sick and
dying Moynihan to endorse her and pose for photos with her on his farm, then muscled
in on the state Dem organization which was feeling the pressure to field a candidate.
Along with the Clinton's "supporters" in the party and help from the Dem national office,
Hillary took over. This took about four to six months.
The Republican Party in Illinois doesn't have that much time to get a candidate.
Keyes isn't taking over the state Republican organization like the Clinton's have done
to the Dem Party in NY.
As far as any Illinois connections -- he probably doesn't have any. But he doesn't need
any either. The Illinois voters will determine if that makes any difference on election day.
BTW -- Moynihan couldn't stand the Clintons.
Why did he give a tepid endorsement to Hillary --
who knows?
Funny, that's what the left says about the word evil as in phrases such as, oh, "evil empire" (Reagan), "axis of Evil" (Bush).
Goodness are you actually arguing that I'm wrong to call the left evil?!? It's exactly accurate and it's a GREAT word that I will not give up.
