These bills, SB50 and SB1152, will be heard in the Senate Appropriations Committee TODAY!! Contact information for committee members is found at the link provided. SB 50 is the ban on .50 calibre guns, and SB1152 is the ammunitrition registration bill. Under that bill, you would need to show ID, provide your name, address, date of birth, and a thumbprint in order to purchase ammunition. That information will be made available to peace officers. Is that tyrannical, or what?

"... you would need to show ID, provide your name, address, date of birth, and a thumbprint in order to purchase ammunition"
As of the mid 90s (when I let my license lapse), all of that info, including thumbprint, was on the LTC in MA.
I would contact my senators, but one is AWOL running for president and the other will not care. And besides, the SJC rules the state by fiat anyway.
Sorry. I put California in the topics, and in the keywords. I'll ask the admin mod to edit the title.
SB 1152 concerns "Reorganized Common Sewer Districts". What are you talking about?
This is California, not national. I've asked the admin mod to edit the title. I'm sorry for the confusion.
California. Not national. I've asked the admin mod to edit the title.
My cardiologist will send you the bill. : )
Wonder if hanoi john and breck girl will rush right to DC to cast a vote on this?
My face is red.
Nope. This is California. I put California in the Topics and Keywords, but neglected to put it in the title. I asked the admin mod to edit the title. Sorry for the cardiac arrest!
Is this against the California state constitution? I mean, are the state lawmakers attempting to subvert the state constitution with the passage of these laws?
(My heart has a hair trigger on 2nd A. issues anyway.)
While it's just Cali now, how long will it take for the Dims to call for a national version something like this?
The Cali state constitution has no Right to Keep and Bear Arms.
Until the Gun Owners' Bill of Rights (or whatever it was called) passed back under Reagan, you had to show ID to buy any kind of ammunition anywher in the country.
And yes, that WAS tyrannical.
Thank you!!
Bump.
Calguns.net member Librarian was listening to audio (don't know the details, none given of where to find the audio) of the committee proceedings, and he believes the heard that SB50 was placed in the suspense file. I'm not positive of what the suspense file is, but I think that means that it is dead for this year. I'll try to find out.
And of course, Ahhhnold the Gubernator and Convention star, will sign it.
Not necessarily. He recently vetoed a bill drafted by the anti's in the legislature that would have allowed "gun safety" education in the schools. Problem with the bill was that the education was geared toward allowing hoplophobes to edumacate the young'uns on "gun violence" and how scary the evils guns are. Not the "Eddie Eagle" kind of gun safety education we would like to see.
