Cute. I wonder if the founders saw something "angelic" in George Washington? Just because the US Constitution was written to protect against the worst inclinations of men, does not equate to every person serving in the gov't is the worst of mankind. I'd say Rick needs to get a check up on his logic gland, it seems to be malfunctioning.

...[Bush] claimed to have witnessed the first plane hit the World Trade Center live on TV...

Citation or retraction, Mr. Perlstein.

Hey Perlstein,
Take a hint from someone who's been there, man....What? Oh, oh, yeah, yeah, I know.

Remember:
Write the article, then get high.
Say it with me.
Write the article, then get high.
Cool,
I knew you could!

-- I have no doubt that Rick is home gloating on all the great free publicity he managed to get himself today..
He's as daft as Pee Wee Herman.

Yeah, I saw that "unAmerican" quote. They're coming to the defense of the nutty ketchup girl, aren't they? lol

Here is where you can find the quote that he based this on. Go towards the bottom of the page - you'll see this:

And I was sitting outside the classroom waiting to go in, and I saw an airplane hit the tower -- the TV was obviously on, and I use to fly myself, and I said, "There's one terrible pilot." -- Dubya quoting himself on his first reaction to seeing an airliner piloted into the World Trade Center, Orlando, Florida, Dec. 4, 2001

There's audio, too. Sorry, I don't know how to link to that.

"And that is why conservatism is verging on becoming an un-American creed"

Un-American? Un-American? Is this the latest obligatory buzzword from Camp Lefty, as per Mama T's orders? Mr. Perlstein is undoubtedly reading our comments with glee, desperately hoping to stir the pot over here at FR. I think I'll just give him what we all know he's after....Perlstein, SHOVE IT!! Un-American, indeed.

That's TXBlair. T-X-B-l-a-i-r

For someone who claims to know little about Saul Alinsky Mr. Perlstein sure has mastered the Rules for Radicals, the rules of the ethics of means and ends.

Here ridicule proves a most potent weapon. A little moral advice by Mr. Perlstein agrees with Alinsky "that you do what you can with what you have and clothe it with moral arguments."

Morals smorals. The ends justify the means. Pretty simple. Perhaps Mr. Perlstein figures he invented the technique? Or..

Did he learn from Bill and Hillary who learned from Saul who learned from Lucifer? Saul Alinsky: "Lest we forget at least an over-the-shoulder acknowledgment to the very first radical: from all our legends, mythology, and history (and who is to know where mythology leaves off and history begins -- or which is which), the first radical known to man who rebelled against the establishment and did it so effectively that he at least won his own kingdom -- Lucifer."

How could he have written about Goldwater without knowing the effect that the Alinskys had on us working class Goldwater conservatives? It was not just Rockefeller internationalists v. modern conservatives.

Well, after decades of taking it, conservatives are fighting back and the left is racheting up "the rules of the ethics of means and ends." Too late.

look here:

it's pretty close to the end, do a search on the page after it loads for "saw an airplane"

Welcome! The homepage does not exaggerate when it warns that FR is addictive. You'll know you're in real trouble when you pull your first FR all-nighter, which I just did last Friday. You could tell that people were getting tired; the posts kept getting more and more outrageous. I laughed so hard that I couldn't even type! If you want a good laugh, check out the "Licorice Speaks" thread, which is about the Kerry Family pet (he's since been dubbed 'Hanoi Hamster'). It still makes me laugh just thinking about it!

Again, welcome to FreeRepublic! We're a spectacular bunch of folks, but don't let yourself get fired over us! ;-)

...and I believe that "W" actually thought the image was some fictional video, such as a movie or TV clip and not real-time "reality". I don't think he'd joke, if he'd know'd it was real.

Thanks for the link, guys. I don't know what he was up to there, but it seems more like an embellishment to make the story more interesting than an attempt to deceive. It's most definitely not the truth and is worth pointing out. Rehashing it now is rather petty, I'd say, but hey, ya learn something new every day. :)

It's not something I'd dismiss as nothing, but it isn't anything worth writing home about either.

Again, welcome to FreeRepublic! We're a spectacular bunch of folks, but don't let yourself get fired over us! ;-)

You guys definitely are. Thankfully I'm self-employed, so I get poor instead of fired. The good news is that if that happens, there's this guy running around on TV saying that he's going to cut my taxes and make some rich guys pay them instead! And he'll probably even throw in some way kewl social program for me too! w00t! :D

You know how Bush speaks, he wouldn't have said "I saw THAT an airplane HAD hit the tower". That's proper english, but it ain't the way the Pres talks!
