Final Two-- Barthwell vs. Keyes
Tuesday, August 03, 2004
Illinois Republican would-be kingmakers have weaned their election elimidate down to a final two-- Alan Keyes and Andrea Barthwell.
The final episode is tomorrow at 2 p.m. at a as of yet undisclosed location.
Keyes will fly in from Maryland to address the State Central Committee.
All in all, committee members were pleased with the day's process.
"It was a very democratic process," said Ron Smith of the 6th District (Henry Hyde).
Keyes would be a kick ass Senator!
CORRECT - HOWEVER, BETTER TO GO WITH CLASS THAN ASS - GO KEYES.
CORRECT - HOWEVER, BETTER TO GO WITH CLASS THAN ASS - GO KEYES.

Keyes is a fire-breathing true believer.
He can't beat Obama but the campaign will be a wonder to see.
If they pick Keyes, I'd love seeing him speak at the Republican convention.
BTTT!!!!!
Barthwell is a RINO, and Keyes isn't from here. Our state party is so screwed up...
Hey, it could be worse. You could be here in NY with Schumer and Clinton. Now that is screwed up...
What in the heck are they thinkin'?
That, and I can claim that I supported the only black man running for presidential election in 2000. When the libs get the confused look on their face... I reply: "Dr. Keyes... Ambassador Keyes... You know... the only real conservative running for president....."
It really jacks with their worldview.

In theory. But he'll never win here. And as much as I like Keyes, I can't help it that I don't like the idea of importing a candidate from the East Coast. It's pathetic.
Welcome to the forum.
He's too principled to run in a state in which he does not even reside. He's too principled for his sweaters, even.
Sorry, Bad Dog, I disagree; Alan Keyes is one of the greatest of our generation. His supporters don't give a damn what color he is. He's a man of principle that we can trust.
How fitting for Keyes to represent the Land of Lincoln!
A truly intellectual and articulate man whose appreciation for America's Founding principles is unquestionable and deep!
Maybe so. Obviously a guy as vehement as Keyes
wouldn't be considered, certainly by the Illinois
Republican party, if he were white.
But he's still a great messenger. Yes, he'll turn
off some people -- mostly those who would end up
following the media/establishment lead and voting
for Obama anyway. It is important to have some
candidates who present the true conservative message
and make people think. There aren't enough of them.
As a non-Illinoisian, Keyes would probably lose. But
we're going to lose the seat anyway. Let's at least
educate some people while we're at it.
