The USMC has a long and distinguished tradition of service by American Indians. There were Indian Marines in the Civil War. During Vietnam you would be hard press to find a battalion that did not have Indians in it. Many Companies had at least one Indian in them. I do not know the exact figure but I imagine that as a percentage of population Indians historically have been overrepresented in the USMC. You know what they say: "There are two colors of Marines: Dark green and Light Green,: (that was before the "Civil Rights" movement.
