WHY BOSTON DIDN'T HELP
NY POST ^ | WHY BOSTON DIDN'T HELP | EDITORIAL

John Kerry can't be happy with the latest news on the election front: The polls show that the Democratic ticket got a barely discernable "bounce" from the Boston convention.

One poll even shows Kerry and running-mate John Edwards losing some ground to President Bush.

While the numbers surely reflect, in some respects, the sharply divided electorate, it's also likely that the Democrats are being haunted not only by what they said in Boston, but what they didn't say.

--SNIP--

The fact is that John Kerry habitually tailors his remarks to his immediate audience. As Rudy Giuliani said, he's "trying to be all things to all people."

Kerry, after all, told an Arab-American audience that Israel's security fence was "a barrier to peace" — then told Jewish groups that it's "necessary to the security of Israel." That's right: He doesn't just flip-flop — he takes both sides at the same time.

Keeping quiet must have seemed like the best way of playing both ends against the middle in Boston.

But it also helps explain why Kerry didn't get the boost he sorely needed from his hometown convention.

"Americans might be dumb, but they're not stupid."

Anybody with ears knows that Kerry is trying to be all things to all men, and it's disgusting!

Yep, in trying to be all things to all people, Kerry ends up being a non-person to most people.

Everyone seems to miss the most obvious explanation of why the convention didn't help Kerry: nobody watched the convention.

By nominating John Kerry the Demorats show what an amazing lack of depth they have. Out of all the Candidiates Kerry might indeed have been the best, but being the best of a rotten pack like that isnt saying much. So far Hatred of George Bush has carried him thats all he has, He is a sorry excuse for a man much leass a Candidate for President.

Where, for example, was the tribute to the late Daniel Patrick Moynihan at this, the first Democratic convention since his death last year?

Indeed, Moynihan's name wasn't even mentioned at the podium, not even by Hillary Clinton, who succeeded him in the U.S. Senate.

Moynihan, after all, wasn't just one of the most important Democrats of the second half of the 20th century Ehe was, by all accounts, a distinguished senator who charted the course of political debate.

But he also was outspoken on issues that his party now finds uncomfortable.

Issues like an ongoing commitment to a strong national defense and the need to anticipate, not merely react to, conflicts Enot to mention his disdain for the United Nations as "a decomposing corpse and an insane asylum" and his scorn for those who shy away from the legitimate use of U.S. power.

I remember Moynihan well-- a class act who could have made Liberalism respectable had anyone listened. I do not recall the UN quote, but he nailed it!

The people on the podium weren't liberals - they were the remnants of the New Left.

Bill Clinton knew the secret of any successful liar: He finds a way to believe what he's saying at the time. He at least appears to be sincere.

Kerry knows he's lying and just doesn't care. He expects you not to call him on it. Witness Theresa's "shove it" response when a reporter dared question her baseless assertions. They expect you to take their answers because you (as a mere plebe) don't dare threaten their dominance.

The Kerrys are true elitists. If they thought they could pull the trigger on you, for having the gall to inconvenience them with your mere existence, and thought get away with, it they wouldn't hesitate for a second.

Kerry has hit his high-water mark. I'm amazed at how he is where he is at this stage in the campaign. The American voters(at least the ones being polled) are the stupidest lot we've had in recent memory.

The fact that Kerry, the impetus in America's cut-and-run finale in Viet Nam would be running for president in 2004, is a shame and a disgrace.

This is what you get when History is ignored and in many cases, rewritten in the classrooms.

I wonder if this talent was related to his purported "photographic memory."

Even more important is why the conventions viewing numbers were down so far is that the swayable public in general has already rejected him. They didn't even want to hear what he and the dems were going to say.

He was dead before the convention even began in so far as attracting new voters. In a campaign with two good candidates, sometimes people will want to hear both sides before amking a decision. This is not a campaign between two good choices. There is only one good choice and that is President Bush.

The second choice, Kerry, only has favor among his party faithful, sexual perverts, and traitors to America. Thankfully, that is a small enough number to keep Kerry out of office and the Dems out of power for awhile.

Kerry and his band of Hollyweirdos evince an elitist, unmitigated, contempt for middle-class America.

The moguls of Hollywarped, in particular, demonstrate their elitism and undisguised contempt for middle America in every vile, sexually explicit, violent film, TV show and music video they produce.

We, the people, harken back to Mel Gibson's monumental oeuvre---The Passion of The Christ---to count the numbers of elite haters who came out of the woodwork to trash Mel, the film, and reviled the hundreds of millions of believers who saw the film as a reflection of middle American values.

Kerry'll be anything he thinks the swing voters want him to be. He'll go naked if the polls say so (horrible thought).

He certainly was a class act. One of his quotes certainly fits what's going on in the Democrat party now, more than ever.

"Everyone is entitled to his own opinion, but not his own facts."

"nobody watched the convention"

That's not true! I watched it. I was at a Japanese restaurant where they had a TV, and I glanced over to it, and clearly discerned the banner at the bottom which said "Democratic Convention" before looking away. Now it is true that I didn't actually HEAR it, but I have heard reruns of the most important part. I think it went "Go Balloons! Go Balloons!
