Further evidence of the sheeple mentality in the scientific community; kind of a closed community, it seems, not unlike many religous communities (Amish, Shakers, etc.).
It's also called "group-think." Jesus Christ and numerous others warn against it.

Many great scientist were first shunned by their peers. The scientific community is very close minded. Perhaps Abhas Mitra is above them intellectually.
Oh, and Steven Hawkings is over rated.
Did you ping Physicist to this, too?
I suspect that if I read Mitra's paper (and understood it), I'd find that his claims went way beyond simply saying that black holes don't destroy all information as they evaporate, which as I understand it is all that Hawking is now saying.
Yes, Brother A ... but it isn't just the "scientific community" that acts this way. This seems to be human nature.... (And you may recall what Katherine Hepburn says about "nature" in The African Queen: Nature is what we humans "were put here to rise above" ... or words to that effect).
I think Hawking is a real stand-up guy to make a public correction of a long-standing error regarding a subject that probably is very dear to his heart.... The man has both integrity and guts, and I honor him for it.

Yes, it took all of four years for him to be vindicated (assuming he is - astrophysics is slightly beyond my comprehension!). A huge amount of time in science!
Lemming think.
More or less a repeat of the Galileo case. He was sunk not by the Church but by the Aristotleans. They never changed their minds, either. They just died, to be replaced by men open to new ideas.
