For a jet to take out this dam, would it have to hit the dam at an upward angle close to the top, near the thinnest part? Would that chip, crack, or otherwise remove enough to allow the weight of the water on the other side to do the rest?

And remember a jet taking off from Vegas, heading east or internationally would be loaded with fuel.

Add in a truck bomb that was crossing the span at ~ the same time.?

It is the best fit I've seen from all pictures submitted. It also qualifies for the "water - water - water" scenario painted earlier.
