Sounds silly, but it may not be. Their messages appear to be citing how we worked with codes during both World Wars and other wars. Whatever we used that was effective remains in play for them if they want to try it.
I agree wholeheartedly. Yes it does sound silly, and yes it may be the very last thing that anyone would suspect. It also may be highly effective for them.
