Now 45,000 is a lot of sailors.
If this fleet stopped at a port and gave the men shore leave, how much American cash would get injected into the local economy?

Oh yeah, what about the French, huh? They finally got their diminutive aircraft carrier out under its
own power! If Kerry wins, we will have the naval power of our French allies to help us respond to any attack.

Ok, with our fleets dispersed, we are in position to go to full scale Nuclear War. Something very big is up, we do not rattle the saber needlessly. I got no idea who stirred this hornets nest, but we are seeking a target, bigtime.

(Six aircraft carriers at a minimum would be needed for a China-Taiwan contingency or a second Korean war.) Of course, if we really wanted to stop China for good only one Ohio Class Nuclear Sub would be needed.

Navy submarine building took a couple of giant steps recently when the Virginia, the first ship in a new nuclear-attack submarine class, completed its initial sea trials and the Texas, the second ship in the program, was christened by First Lady Laura Bush

Standard response to anyone who calls ua Navy guys 'squids' - what exactly is wrong with being an eight-legged bad mother-F*cker that sh!ts on Marine life?
Of course, it's particularly funny when said to a Marine!

The Russians and Chinese have purportedly been whispering not-so-veiled threats about 'Sunburning' a carrier group.
Wonder if this is a scary version of 'I dare you.'

That E2C is going to ding up his landing gear trying to land on that postage stamp! I thought that I heard that the French CVN was too small & slow to launch & recover the E2C? Anybody know if they solved this problem?
