My husband, who is a tax accountant has been preaching National Sales Tax as the only solution for years. I read him this story and he freaked. What will he do for a living? Said he would have to vote for Kerry (as a first response). Now, we have to ask ourselves, how many CPAs etc. do we have that might change their vote over this?

So your husband has been preaching that the National Sales Tax is the only option for years, but now that it could become a reality, he's against it and is going to vote for Kerry?

Did I read that right?

Tell your husband that under the Fair Tax, he will make more money, work shorter hours and have a better home life!

How much do you see him between January and April?

He is trained to help his customers grow their wealth, not avoid paying taxes. Absent the evil tax code, he can spend his valuable billable hours providing advice and counsel to his clients doing just that in a growing and vibrant economy.

The Fair Tax's chief sponsor John Linder tells a story of speaking about its provisions to a crowd in St. Louis. During Q&A, a question was asked about the likely opposition of the big CPA firms such as H&R Bloch. Linder added that would likely be the case. As the meeting ended, a nicely dressed man told Linder he was an EVP at H&R Bloch and they are very much for the Fair Tax Act (HR 25) because they would make much more money from the economic growth than they make on preparing tax returns. I certainly believe this; the growth in capital investment and additional job growth would be very substantial. Take a look at the economic studies at www.fairtax.org. Your husband and your family, I am convinced, will be much better off under the Fair Tax Act.

Wow, this is really difficult. I mean, how am I going to reply to this, without using any obscenities?

What I'm getting at is, how does one describe obscenity without using obscenity?

Why don't you simply ask him if there was a cure for cancer, should it be suppressed, lest the doctors, clinics, and research organizations be forced to go work for a living?

Or, if there was a sudden drop in violent crime -- to, let's say, -zero-, should the government establish "crime forces" in the form of government sponsored criminals, and "school-to-jail" programs to ensure a new generation of thugs and street criminals, because otherwise, we'd be putting all those cops, judges, lawyers, and prison guards out of work?

Or how about Prohibition? Look at all the people that took a financial hit when that law was revoked! Everyone from Al Capone to Eliot Ness took a beating!

I could go on, but hopefully you've got the idea by now.

First of all, accounting is still needed. Corporations need to have their balance sheet, income statement and cash flows. States may still require income taxes.

Those who cannot find employment in a NON-Productive activity will soon find jobs in a Productive activity that will add to our GDP. What I mean by non-productive is that tax preparation and tax avoidance strategies add nothing to our economy.

Elimination of income taxes frees capital and risk taking. Businesses will boom. New entrepreneural activity will happen. Shifting people from one activity that has been holding back our economy to one that will create an economic revival never seen before is going to be huge!
