VAT scares me but NRST sounds like a good replacement for the IRS.
Everybody knows that if they eliminate the income tax and the IRS that the republicans wouldn't have anything to campaign about and the democRATS couldn't campaign that rich are not paying enough. Both parties would actually have to spend time on issues that make the country safer and stronger. We wouldn't want to do that now would we?
The Dims will see both as "unfair" because they tax everyone at the same rate.
We all need to call talk radio and say how we are Democrats and had been undecided, but this settles it, we're voting for Bush now.
That will sure put a lot of soul less people out of work.
The NRST proposal that's been festering in the halls of Congress is nothing but a grotesque distortion and convoluted misrepresentation of economic theory. Advocates of this "plan" clearly do not trust the American People to understand the true ramifications, and are poised to agressively shove a false paradigm down their dumbed-down throats. IMHO, the minimum response to such a beligerant abuse of power should be the time-honored American tradition of tar-and-feathering such dishonest political scalawags.
Oh YES YES YES!!
I will bake the man a cake if it goes through.
(Can you tell I am being taxed to death??)
Game, set, match.
We all know the Democrats will immediately cry "foul" because the poor and middle class will be most affected. How will they redistribute the wealth?
The ONLY way to get the scum of society--the pimps, whores, fraudulent businesses, drug dealers, etc.-- to pay their fair share is by a national sales tax.
Any "flat tax" will eventually be raised to a high tax rate.
It is a shame on this nation's history that a national sales tax is not the method of collecting federal taxes.
I spend 10 months out of a 12 month year figuring out cost basis and other BS just to file a tax return.
I never thought I'd hear the GOP leadership pushing for the elimination of the IRS. This is a landmark in American politics.
Go Bush!!!
If Bush would make this a campaign issue the electon would be over. The one thing I would worry about is that congress would get hold of this bill and as a "comprimise" we'd end up with BOTH a VAT and the current income tax. I'd love to see the NRST adopted but ONLY if it goes along with a repeal of the 16th ammendment, which sadly will never happen.
To steal a line from a friend.............
"My vote is for sale."
I want to hear bush make this promise, live, prime time.
I think it's at least as important as his promises to foxx.
