As much as I HATE BJ Clinton, even I have to give him credit on that one. It was against Algore's best interest to send him back to Cuba. If they were interested in politics, they would have bowed to the lawless mob in Miami (Hoever right they thought they were, they were acting lawless) and carried Florida in 2000.
It was for political reasons. Fidel wanted that child back, period. Under no circumstances could a child whose mother had already died to get out of Cuba be allowed to live in America. It would be a living symbol of the hellhole his country had become.
He controlled Juan Miguel's every move in America to get him back. Fidel has probably ordered the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people. We have no way of knowing what sort of pressure was put on Juan Miguel.
