Even if one is in the "Line of Succession" to the presidency, no one can assume the office unless they qualify. That is: Natural born in the US, at least 35 years old and lived 14 years in the US prior to office. (Article II, Sec I, Para 5, US Constitution.) Members of the Executive are not in line of succession, except for the Vice-President and he must qualify in the same manner as the president. No one foreign born, even if in succession, can be president.
As for the "First Lady", the Constitution makes no mention or recognizes its existence as a government position. Constitutionally, the question of the "First Lady" is moot. Politically it is very important.
Holy crap I've seen enough!!!
Oh bull. Using the term 'First Lady' dates back to the 1840's. It's been used as a title for the wife of the President or his official hostess for over 130 years. Where did you get that "came exclusively with Hillary" nonsense?
I think you are on to something. Read WINGNUTS'BOLTS fake bio and tell me that he/she doesn't sound like a poser trying to say the 'right' things.
Your little profile letter is hilarious. Either you are a phony(that is my opinion), or you really do not have a grasp on why you "believe" what you believe. Nice try RAT.
Ummm.. it was more of a rhetorical question, designed to make you think.
Scary ain't it............:o)
Stay safe !
I might add that anyone who has "dual-citizenship" is committing fraud (in the U.S.).
THK is a big mouth out of control.
Besides, the Mozambique that Teresa was born in bears no resemblance to what it has become. I would doubt if it would recognize any claim she had to Moz. citizenship if she were to maintain one.
But I'd like to know why the Heinz fortune didn't go to the Heinz sons? Does anybody know?
I may have been hasty in my last response.
One is required to renounce other citizenships, but apparently the U.S. will "allow" such in certain countries.
According to the link in [8], people lose their Mexican citizenship if they become Americans.
I think the sons have their own fortune. Hers is community property.
I have dual citizenship (Ireland). Please explain to me how I am committing fraud.
A president must be American-born. Of course, there is no restriction on a "first lady" being foreign-born.
If you mean born in the U.S. this is not true.
Barry Goldwater, the 1964 Republican candidate, was born in the Arizona Territory in 1909 (Arizona did not become the 48th state until 1912). Goldwater lost the 1964 election to Lyndon Johnson.
George Romney, a 1968 Republican hopeful, was born in Mexico in 1907 to American parents who had moved there to escape anti-Mormon persecution in the US. (Contrary to a widely held popular misconception, by the way, Romney's parents were settlers in Mexico, not missionaries.) Romney's campaign fizzled following a gaffe about his having been "brainwashed" regarding US involvement in the Vietnam conflict.
John McCain, an early Republican hopeful in the current (2000) campaign, was born in the Panama Canal Zone in 1936 to American parents. McCain dropped out of the campaign in favor of the Republicans' eventual nominee, George W. Bush.
And your point is? As a dual citizen I would like an explanation.
A few notes on Mrs John Kerry (She hates being called that, by the way!)
Not true. If one is born in Panama, as an example, no matter the nationality of one's parents, one is a Panamanian forever. There is no office to where one can go and renounce one's citizenship.
Pass it on then..........:o)
Stay safe !
Pick your country double passport boy!!!!
