Anti-Kerry rant gets N.J. man arrested, say authorities (in Pennsylvania)

NICHOLSON - While thousands gathered in Scranton on Friday in support of Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry, one man in opposition of the senator voiced his protest at a Wyoming County convenience store. He was a little too fervent, though, said state police of Eric Michael Greisch. The Montvale, N.J., resident was arraigned before District Justice Carl Smith in Tunkhannock on two counts of disorderly conduct. It was unclear if he was released on bail.

Police said Greisch, 53, walked into the Pump-N-Pantry on U.S. Route 11 at about 4 p.m., began shouting obscenities and said, "Sen. John Kerry must be stopped."

Greisch told clerks he had just escaped from state prison, according to a news release from state police Trooper Robert A. Kennedy of the Tunkhannock barracks.

Greisch, who had not escaped from prison, was just "someone looking for attention," said Wyoming County District Attorney George Skumanick Jr., who was told of the incident by state troopers.

"He was ranting and raving; being very loud," said Skumanick, adding that it appears the man "needs some care."

As a matter of procedure, state troopers will inform the Secret Service of the incident, the district attorney said.

O.K. The guy is from NJ. Kerry was in PA. Now, did this incident happen in NJ or PA? I don't know which state Wyoming County is in.

It's encouraging to me to know that even "crazy" people can't stand John Kerry.

Pennsylvania. Tunkhannock is the county seat of Wyoming County. It is 26 miles from Scranton and 26 miles from Willkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.

Arrested for ranting against Kerry? I guess this means Gore, Kerry, Kennedy, Moore and Dean will soon be in lock-up for ranting against Bush, right?

NO that's different, just ask Rather Brokaw and Jennings.

I think the point of this article is to exemplify the typical Bush supporter, otherwise how is it news of any kind?

I thought Kerry had the full support of the mentally deranged.

"... Montvale, N.J., resident ..."

It's the water over there in Joisey; it'll do that to ya.

You're forgetting, rules and laws only apply to the right, not the left.

Oops; I should have searched for it. Actually, I usually do a search each time before I post. I guess since I hardly ever see anyone but myself posting from the Times Leader, as well as the fact that I was in a hurry when I was posting, I didn't bother searching. Thanks for pointing out the duplicate post. Have a great weekend. BC

That's a long way from California! I used to pass through Tunkhannock frequently on my way to college (Mansfield Univ.). The "Endless Mountains" sure are beautiful.
