A bizarre chain of events takes a stolen gun from sheriff's office evidence room to a Gainesville gun owner. An A.T.F. inspector learned that the Alachua County Sheriff's office must have ran the wrong serial number on a confiscated glock 45 millimeter pistol. So instead of charging the person in possession of the gun with theft, it was combined with others and traded for new deputy weapons. According to Sheriff's Office Spokesman, Sgt. Stephen Maynard, "Hunting rifles, target pistols that have significant value are sold to a reputable gun dealer." The local gun shop which made the trade sold the pistol to a Gainesville gun owner, who has since turned over the weapon. But it's too late to find the 1997 owner or file theft charges.
That's a bullet a little over 1 3/4 inch in diameter. Quite a hand cannon!
45 mm Huh? Must be some sort of low pressure round. Like the old 40mm "Bloop" gun (M-79) or the newer version (M-203) that is slung under an M-16. Except handheld. Still would have a considerable kick, sort of like a full power 12 gauge shotgun shell fired from a handgun.
Send the 45 MM pistola info over to the thread about the .50 BMG rifle, they are seeking gun information to answer a survey about the need for big guns in the hands of citizens. (:>)
Spouse has a Glock in 45 ACP (stands for automatic colt pistol)
I want one of those 45 millimeters though, must be a real hand cannon, capable of knocking down skyscrapers, fleets ofjumbo jets, go through the walls of 1100 homes, shoot through the earth to Chinese on the other side. (okay, I am parroting idiot gun confiscators)
See the link for 600 Nitro revolver.

Made me look....three or four times. I mean, a 45mm is one thing, but a "Moster Glock", is another.!.!
Don't have one of those.
A pistol would not make sense at less than 600fps projectile velocity. So, recoil impulse (mv) would be some 1300+ feet-pounds per sec (bullet 2.2 lbs for the same bullet proportions as 200 grain 0.45"). This is 20 times the recoil impulse of a heavy rifle (200 grain 3000fps). Recoil will be monstrous, unless this "Glock" is completely redesigned into recoilless rifle configuration.
LOL
oops!
45mm is bigger than an M203 grenade round.... maybe it's for Glock 'nade rounds. New in home defense.
There is a new semi auto .50 on the way. Can't remember the company but they just designed a .50 and tooled the gun around it, resembles a 1911 auto, only the barrel is a bit bigger.
They pumped in some cash in order to be cost effective they had to do at least a run of 20,000 units on the bullets. It was in June American Handgunner which a buddy borrowed.
It is the same size as 45 ACP 'cept for Diameter. And much more compact than Desert Eagle.
I'm fairly new, here. But I know a good chuckle when I see one.
My "monster" in .40SW qualified me nicely for a carry permit, here, in the state where nothing is allowed.
"Too late to find the owner"?? Bull!
The USN used to have a double barreled 10Ga Berri Pistol. It is usually loaded with signal flares, however some guys had the 10Ga shells loaded with 00 buck by the GMs. It only had about a 10 inch barrel, and one round could blow a whole in the bottom of a sampan.
Frequent use could cause real damage to your shooting arm from wrist to shoulder.
Now that's a Howda pistol!
Dawg - that's a GUN! I'm going to save it so hubby can add it to his collection of, ahem, "gun porn"...
It's so sad. I come in, and I see him by the light of the monitor, staring at the screen as if mesmerised. "Yeah, baby, yeah" he breathes; then, sensing my presence in the room, he tries to close the window by OH! Too late - I have seen the object of his lust. How can I ever compete with a Glock 21? SOB sob sob...
And I thought the 10mm was a cool round...
You thought correctly. (grin)
They used to make muzzleloading pistols in calibers up to .75" and beyond that had very low velocities. Apparently it was not uncommon for people hit by them to be knocked clean off their feet yet escape with only severe bruising.
